Lufthansa Technik has completed a VVIP cabin conversion of a second Boeing 747-8 at its completions centre in Hamburg and the aircraft has now been delivered to an undisclosed customer.
Another aircraft of this type is currently undergoing completion - and Lufthansa Technik has at times worked on the three 747-8s at the same time.
In the past the company equipped 14 aircraft of the predecessors to the current Boeing 747-8 and is thus the leading provider in its field for aircraft of this type.
“The delivery of this second 747-8 is another milestone for us in the area of VVIP completions for widebody aircraft. We have handed over an individually designed, state-of-the-art aircraft fitted with high-quality materials to meet the most discerning demands in terms of exclusivity and comfort,” says Walter Heerdt, Senior Vice President VIP and Executive Jet Solutions. “The many years' experience with different aircraft types, our innovative strength and the passion of our employees has enabled us to set new standards.”
The cutting edge design of the 440-sq-m cabin contrasts strongly with classic design. In addition to many new features and innovations, materials were also used for the first time that posed significant challenges for the engineers. The integrated cabin management and on-board entertainment system offers the latest standard in entertainment and communication. This includes, for example, broadband Internet, GSM, WLAN, Live TV and satellite communication.
Lufthansa Technik supports the aircraft of Lufthansa German Airlines as well as the aircraft of many international customers, including a large number of VIP and government aircraft. As a result the company has in-depth expertise and many years' experience in the maintenance and repair of the widest range of aircraft types, including the Boeing 747 family.
In addition to equipping VIP aircraft, Lufthansa Technik also offers custom-tailored logistics and maintenance services for VIP customers.
A total of more than 80 medium and long-haul aircraft have already been completed by this Lufthansa Technik product division. A large number of these aircraft continues to be supported in the framework of maintenance and logistics services.
With more than 30 subsidiaries and associates and over 26,000 employees worldwide, the Lufthansa Technik Group, is one of the leading providers of technical services for the aviation industry. Its portfolio encompasses the entire spectrum of services for commercial
Aircraft including maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification and conversion, engines and components.
