Autumn 2021
Imagine 192 countries standing side by side, proudly sharing their cultures, their past and future, and working together to be sustainable – this is not the distant future, but the veritable present at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Never before has the world come together quite like it has in Expo 2020 Dubai – a carnival of knowledge, experiences, diversity, innovation and business, with a shared vision of the future that is sustainable and accessible for all. With 192 Country Pavilions and more dedicated to special causes and partners as well as more than 200 food and beverage outlets, Expo 2020 Dubai is a hive of activity.
A traditional dance beckons from one pavilion, while a vision of a carbon-free future calls for immediate attention from another. An opera performance draws you in like a magnet, even while a vast array of gastronomic delights await your approval in every corner. There is just so much to do and experience at Expo 2020 Dubai – that along with its intensive calendar of events, you will be doing something different, something inspiring every day of the six-month period.
Expo 2020 Dubai is the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region and for the first time in World Expo history, every participating country has its own pavilion – reflecting the inclusive spirit of the UAE.
The overarching theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, and subthemes of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability, set the scene for 182 days of visually striking and emotionally inspiring experiences at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Sumathi Ramanathan, Vice President, Market Strategy & Sales, Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “Expo 2020 is for explorers, foodies and culture enthusiasts, for children and grandparents, for entrepreneurs, inventors and businesses travellers, for the casual tourist, and for the curious who want to experience the future – now. Our easy-to-access itineraries will enable every visitor to discover the game-changing innovations, world-class entertainment and once-in-a-lifetime experiences that are relevant to them, ensuring everyone who walks through our doors has a safe experience that amazes, inspires and excites the senses.”
LUXURY JUBILEE EXPERIENCE
While it is an inclusive event aimed at everybody, Expo 2020 Dubai expects a host of VIPs, ministers, government officials, private investors and HNWIs to attend the event. As such, it offers a special ‘Jubilee Experience’, which celebrates the 50 years of the UAE’s founding, with a premium, limited-edition offering as part of Expo 2020 Dubai’s expansive ticketing range.
A Jubilee Experience, priced at Dh10,000 ($2,723), includes two limited-edition Expo 2020 Jubilee lapel pins, inspired by the UAE pearl trade and plated in 24-carat gold. It comes with a member’s Season Pass Card, plus four additional season passes, 30 multi-day passes and 10 one-day tickets.
Unlocking a host of additional benefits, members will have access to first-come-first-served dedicated VIP parking, with valet parking vouchers available as an alternative. Fast track entry ensures there are no queues when visiting, and priority entry to specific events allows access to some of the best programming Expo has to offer.
Members will be among the first owners of the Expo 2020 Passport to document their Expo journey through the 192 Country Pavilions, and will also have exclusive access to the Jubilee Lounge, a dedicated hospitality lounge at the heart of Expo, operated by Emaar Hospitality Group.
Guided tours, photography and access to an observation tower with incredible 360-degree views of Expo, as well as food and beverage discounts at select premium Expo outlets, will further enhance members’ experience.
The Jubilee Experience package is presented in beautifully designed box, inspired by a traditional mandoos, which means ‘wooden chest’ in Arabic. A symbol of Emirati heritage, the mandoos was used to keep the owner’s most valuable and treasured possessions.
Only a limited number of Jubilee Experiences will be available.
PIONEERING GASTRONOMY
Visitors to Expo 2020 Dubai will enjoy a world of cuisine where taste knows no borders – a foodie’s paradise featuring internationally acclaimed restaurants and local favourites, superstar chefs and Expo-exclusive eateries.
A pioneering culinary experience inspired by space, microbiology, artificial intelligence and hyperintelligence will stir the senses of curious diners at Expo 2020 Dubai, in a new concept designed to challenge the future of dining.
The Future of Food: Epochal Banquet is a never-before-seen experience cooked up by UK-based multi-sensory experience design studio Bompas & Parr, in collaboration with Expo 2020. The ground-breaking foodie adventure will feature numerous world firsts, taking creativity, innovation and technology to a new level.
Diners will have the opportunity to taste super-light delicacies formed using the same technique that NASA uses to collect comet dust; edible creations that glow in the dark; flavour-changing desserts; rare ingredients, including new-to-the-plate plants; and much more.
The immersive experience is inspired by the ‘Novacene’, a new era hypothesised by eminent 102-year-old scientist and inventor James Lovelock. The new age, he prophesises, will take over the ‘Anthropocene’ era, in which humans have been able to make large-scale changes to the planetary environment, and introduce a future where robots and artificial intelligence will rule.
VISITOR JOURNEYS
What is the Expo after all? To appeal to all tastes and interests, Expo 2020 Dubai has created curated itineraries. The Expo for Families tour offers an exciting, interactive journey packed with fun, educational experiences for all ages, from a Beethoven-inspired robo-band to an encounter with a giant sharp-toothed fish; while Expo for Couples will appeal to those who want to discover the site’s most romantic offerings, including the magical Al Wasl Plaza, which will feature spectacular night-time light shows on its 360-degree projection surface.
The Expo Architecture and Design Journey will take visitors through some of Expo’s architectural marvels – from the falcon-shaped UAE Pavilion to self-sustaining buildings and pavilions that merge nature and architecture, while on the Expo for Foodies tour, guests can taste the future of food, discover a star chef, or sample a new cuisine while taking in a show.
Alternatively, take time out to explore human well-being on the Expo Health and Wellness Journey, ride a bike or attend a yoga class in Jubilee Park, nourish yourself with the latest superfoods and discover life-changing healthcare innovations.
Other itineraries include the Business and Entrepreneurship Journey, which explores how change-makers from around the world strategise to create a lasting impact; and the Expo Mobility Journey, showcasing next-gen innovations moving data, people and goods across the world, from how AI is changing the way we live, learn and play, to the future of air travel.
The Expo Energy Journey will allow visitors to discover vertical farms and stroll through net-zero energy pavilions; while on the Expo for Techies and Innovators tour, they will be able to explore artificial intelligence, space and augmented reality – with a break for lunch with robots.
At Expo 2020 Dubai, lunching with robots is the present, not in the obsure future.
