Bulgari’s 2016 Spring Summer collection of Bulgari-Bulgari bags embraces the Italian jeweller’s love affair with colour and celebrates the boldness of Italian design.
The two-tone bags feature a riot of colour, dazzle of gold, and the sleek gleam of Perspex.
A rebel and a stunner, this collection has a unique history unlike any other Bulgari accessory.
Bulgari’s bags traditionally carry the legacy of the gems and jewels that have come before them – such as the Serpenti Forever or Serpenti Scaglie bags which takes their inspiration from the Serpenti jewellery collection.
But unlike other leather goods and accessories which take their lead from Bulgari’s jewels, the Bulgari-Bulgari bag collection draws inspiration from one of Bulgari’s most loved watches.
In the 1970s, Bulgari became the first luxury brand to engrave its name on the bezel of the watch, drawing inspiration from ancient Roman and Greek coins which used to display the name of its city and reining emperor.
Now, the legend lives on as Bvlgari-Bvlgari emblazes the signature clasp of these bags.
While watches may have been one of the fundamental points of inspiration for this line of accessories, it is not the only one. In a subtle nod the brand’s famously jewelled past, the Bulgari-Bulgari bags pay homage to another design innovation: the bag’s shoulder-strap is made using very same technique as ‘catene’ jewellery, which consists of a single chain of filed, curbed links.
Another element of is the ultra-chic and modern Perspicio bar - a sleek black bar that adds a clever and playful element of colour blocking.
An added element of glamour appears with the use of golden galuchat with a transparent Perspicio bar bringing delight and surprise to the collection.
The new Bulgari-Bulgari bag collection is no wallflower and these bright and beautiful bags are ready to make a statement this spring and summer.
