High Artistry from Montblanc

Montblanc and its longstanding partner Ali bin Ali in Qatar presented a curated selection of artisan and high artistry pieces from the maison’s timepiece and writing instrument collections at the recent Doha Jewellery and Watch Exhibition.

Much anticipated by collectors in the region and around the world, the Montblanc Patron of Art Homage to Victoria & Albert Limited Edition writing collection pays tribute to the arts patronage and cultural legacy of British monarch Victoria and her consort Albert. Comprising four limited editions, the collection honours them both individually and together, and features famous symbols from their lives and achievements, as well as their lifelong love for each other.

A special edition writing instrument created to celebrate the profound literary and cultural heritage of the Arab World, the Montblanc Meisterstück Qalam Watani Special Edition Doué Classique collection – the name of which references “the pen of my nation” – was also featured at the show. Crafted in a verdant translucent green precious lacquer with a gradient finish, the colour is an interpretation of malachite, a rare precious stone often associated with transformation and positive change.

The maison’s newest collection to launch this year, and one that extends across categories, the Montblanc Glacier collection is inspired by the mesmerising beauty of the glaciers of the Mont Blanc mountain.  Highlighting the craftsmanship and innovation inherent in the DNA of Montblanc, the collection’s timepieces include the Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date, the maison’s first-ever certified diving watch that also demonstrates the technical mastery of its artisans. The 41mm timepiece features a stainless-steel case with a bicolour ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel, a dial that creates the illusion of looking into the depths of a glacier, and a caseback featuring a 3D relief engraving of an iceberg and a scuba diver exploring the glacial waters below.

The collection also includes Montblanc’s 1858 Geosphere Chronograph 0 Oxygen LE290, a brand-new chronograph movement devoid of all oxygen inside the case, and powered by Montblanc’s brand-new MB29.27 automatic chronograph movement. With a distinctive gratté boisé glacial dial effect and 44mm titanium case to minimise weight, the timepiece will be worn by Montblanc Mark Maker and mountaineer Nimsdai Purja on his upcoming expedition to the summit of Mount Everest.
