Lufthansa Technik will presenting the latest innovations and trends for airline cabins at next month’s Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany.
Held from April 5 to 7, the expo will feature 1,000 airline buyers and 530 leading aircraft interiors suppliers, and is expected to attract as many as 14,000 visitors.
The spectrum of Lufthansa Technik’s new products in the field of communication ranges from the world premiere of live 3D flight tracking on smartphones, tablets or laptops to state-of-the-art Internet connections for short and medium haul flights.
"Connectivity is a current focus of our work," explains Andrew Muirhead, Head of Original Equipment Innovation at Lufthansa Technik. "Passengers today expect the same communications conveniences on board as in the office or at home. We make that happen."
Additional innovations that can be seen at the Lufthansa Technik stand include an induction cooking solution, emergency floor path markings that match the interior carpet design, dishwashers, the latest seating configurations, and the comfortable transport of patients.
"We are combining our innovative power with our expertise and capabilities as a production and maintenance organization to produce for our customers exactly the products they need in order to offer their passengers the ideal travel experience and to offer the airlines the highest possible cost-effectiveness," says Andrew Muirhead in describing his expectations of his team as of himself.
Lufthansa Technik has bundled all its activities related to the development and production of cabin products in its Original Equipment Innovation division, an independent unit since 2014, establishing the basis for the expansion of its position as a manufacturing operation. All products offered by Lufthansa Technik as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) are developed, planned, manufactured and sold by this product division.
Over 200 interdisciplinary experts from all over the world work in the unit. Depending on their projects, they are supported not only by the capabilities of the in-house engineering unit and the VIP and base maintenance interior workshops but also by highly specialized laboratories and interdivisional innovation teams, making Lufthansa Technik able to network skills and flexibly allocate high capacity as needed in a way that is unique in the industry.
Andrew Muirhead, Head of the Original Equipment Innovation division at Lufthansa Technik, will be at the Lufthansa Technik stand (Hall 6, Booth 6B80) at the Aircraft Interiors Expo.
The Lufthansa Technik Group of Germany has more than 30 subsidiaries and associates and over 25,000 employees worldwide and is one of the leading providers of technical services for the aviation industry. Its portfolio encompasses the entire spectrum of services for commercial aircraft: maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification and conversion, engines and components.
