Luxury watchmaker A Lange & Söhne was named Germany's top luxury brand in 2016 for the fifth year in a row by Wirtschaftswoche, a weekly German business magazine.
The ranking is commissioned by Wirtschaftswoche every two years and compiled by Markenberatung Biesalski & Company as well as brandnetworks, a brand evaluator. It is based on a survey of more than 180 industry experts and polls four criteria: reputation, quality, design and price-positioning.
With 247 out of 300 points, the brand achieved the best result in the top 30 luxury brand ranking revealed by the magazine.
The Saxon manufactory has held the top position in the premium segment since 2007, ahead of all other German automobile, furniture, watch, jewellery and fashion brands.
The result was published in the magazine’s 13th issue on March 24, 2016.
“Our ambitious goal is unchanged: A Lange & Söhne strives to build the world’s finest watches. With creative ideas and qualified staff members, as well as high standards in craftsmanship and technology, we will continue to make mechanical wristwatches coveted possessions”, Lange CEO Wilhelm Schmid said. “The result of the survey reasserts our lofty aspirations and is an incentive for the future.”
A Lange & Söhne has secured a top-tier position among the world’s finest watch brands. Brand icons, such as the Lange 1 with the first outsize date in a regularly produced wristwatch and the Zeitwerk with its precisely jumping numerals display, rank among the company’s greatest successes. Sophisticated complications such as the Richard Lange Perpetual Calendar “Terraluna”, the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater and the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon reflect the manufactory’s determination to achieve ever new pinnacles in horological artistry.
