German luxury watchmaker A. Lange & Söhne will be back at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Lake Como in Italy for the fifth year in a row, presenting the show’s winner with a very special watch.
This year’s competition for vintage as well as concept cars runs from May 20 to 22 and is being held under the theme of ‘Back to the future – the journey continues’.
Once again, the winner in the ‘Best of Show’ category will be presented with a Lange 1 Time Zone Como Edition, specially created for the show.
Splendid vintage cars with fascinating histories will be vying for the favour of the jury and the spectators in eight categories.
A. Lange & Söhne been a sponsor of the concours since 2012, where every car recounts its own exciting story in the rambling park of the Villa d’Este.
Last year, a 1952 Pegaso Cupula won the prize for the most stunning design. As extravagant as they are rare, Spanish-made Pegaso coupés continue to impress aficionados with their intrepid combination of colour, finesse of form and technology.
This year, in the category ‘Daring to be different – designs that pushed the envelope’, the show will highlight examples of particularly bold, often controversially debated and yet decidedly trailblazing innovations in the domains of design and technology.
The show will also offer a glimpse into the future as visitors will have an opportunity to admire the most extravagant concept cars and prototypes of tomorrow.
The Lange 1’s innovative home-time and time-zone display expresses the mechanical prowess with which the manufactory continues to thrill watch enthusiasts and collectors. The hand-engraved caseback of the special edition in white gold features the Concorso’s coat of arms.
On the city ring, Como stands for Central European Time.
Lange CEO Wilhelm Schmid will personally present the winner of the ‘Best of show’ category with the unique timepiece on the occasion of the awards ceremony on May 22.
