The second edition of the Dubai Watch Week will held under the theme ‘Masters of Time’ and run from November 15 to 19, the organisers have announced.
The region’s only dedicated event to horology, Dubai Watch Week is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority and organised by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons.
This year, the event take place at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) as well as The Dubai Mall.
The theme ‘Masters of Time’ will be prevalent in the programme running across several exhibitions, workshops, forums, watchmaking master-classes and exclusive VIP events in both venues.
The programmes at DIFC from November 15 to 19 will showcase an expanded itinerary to the inaugural edition last year.
Highlighting different aspects of the world of horology, the panels at the horology forum will offer a unique insight into the world’s most illustrious watch personalities, where they will share their expertise and knowledge with the general public.
“We are proud to bring back Dubai Watch Week for a second edition, following its success last year. The region and the UAE’s dynamic markets are not only finding a deeper rooted interest in time pieces, there is also a growing population of connoisseurs and amateurs interested in learning more about the incredible art of watchmaking,” said Hind Abdul Hamied Seddiqi, Chief Marketing Officer, Seddiqi Holding.
“We are fortunate to partner with the Fondation de Haute Horlogerie (FHH) who will bring the world’s experts to share insights into the art of horology. This event will allow visitors to become more knowledgeable about the craftsmanship, while offering them the unique opportunity to admire the most innovative and prestigious pieces of all times from up-close. We hope to welcome all watch, design, luxury and art enthusiasts for a week of unique educational entertainment.”
Watchmaking classes held by prominent watchmakers and luxury brands will offer an interactive opportunity to handle movements while the comprehensive ‘Horological movements’ exhibition teaches watch enthusiasts about the different classification of movements presented by the brands. Visitors interested in learning more about cultural elements outside the watchmaking world will be able to explore a creative world of ideas and presentations at the Creative Hub in the DIFC during the week.
“The world of horology is one that is rich with history and built on the base of the innovators that have shaped the foundation of what exists today. This year, the theme that we have dedicated for Dubai Watch Week’s second edition pays tribute to those individuals who have shaped and influenced this magical world of timekeeping. For our second edition, we are fortunate to work alongside our major partners to take our visitors and guests on a journey through a century of timekeeping—on a much larger scale than the previous year,” says Melika Yazdjerdi, Director of Dubai Watch Week.
This year, The Dubai Mall will play a major part in the event, hosting the HH Academy & Certification, ‘Masters of Time’ exhibition and ‘Life of a Swiss Cuckoo Clock’ exhibition from mid-November to early December.
