Feadship’s superyacht Savannah won two awards including the ‘Motor Yacht of the Year’ at the 2016 the World Superyacht Awards in Florence, Italy.
Praising the 83.50-m yacht, the judges said she “excelled in so many different areas that her selection as winner was almost unanimous.”
Organised by Boat International Media, the World Superyacht Awards ceremony was held last Saturday in the palatial surroundings of Florence’s town hall.
More than 500 owners and industry leaders assembled in the Palazzo Vecchio to hear which of the finalists would be called on to the stage to receive the coveted Neptune statues.
Savannah also won a trophy for ‘Displacement Motor Yacht from 1,300 GT to 2,999 GT’.
The jury, comprised of 22 superyacht owners and industry experts, expressed its delight at the harmony of Savannah’s exterior lines, her hybrid propulsion system and the layout of her exterior and interior areas.
“Not only is Savannah an inspirationally elegant yacht, but the quality of design and construction – right down to the last detail – demonstrates the level of craftsmanship to which many aspire but few achieve,” commented the judges. “She is an incredible yacht that excels in all aspects and is a worthy winner.
Another Feadship yacht, Symphony, took home the award for ‘Displacement Motor Yacht of 2,999 GT and above’. The judges explained that they were impressed with the 101.5-m yacht’s “stunningly beautiful exterior lines, the division of her interior spaces and the incredible quality and attention to detail that had been invested in all areas.”
“Feadship successfully addressed many challenging technical issues that arose from the new PYC code to which the yacht is built. Symphony is a remarkable story of design, craftsmanship and technological innovation that has been cleverly combined to totally satisfy the owner’s requirements.”
Other winners included Vitters Shipyards’s Unfurled (Sailing Yacht of the Year), the Timmerman superyacht Latitude (Voyager’s Award), Feadship’s Mirage (Refitted Yacht), Malahne (Rebuilt), Claasen Shipyards’s Atalante, (Sailing Yacht 30 m to 39.99 m), Princess Yachts International’s Antheya III (Semi-Displacement & Planing Two Deck Motor Yacht), and Gulf Craft’s Nashwan (Quality and Value Award).
The World Superyacht Awards 2016 recognised the finest superyachts launched throughout 2015. Held annually, the awards recognise the ingenuity and innovation demanded by the design, engineering and construction of the world’s finest luxury yachts.
For the 2016 awards, some 47 builders from 15 countries entered almost 70 superyachts for consideration.
A total of 24 Neptunes were awarded to 19 yachts, one adventurous owner and one luminary superyacht owner.
