British stars Bel Powley and John Boyega have won awards from Chopard honouring them as the film world’s brightest young stars.

Held on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival, the Trophée Chopard from the Swiss watch and jewellery house honours the best new stars of the silver screen.

Now in its 16th edition, the trophies are awarded in partnership with Variety magazine.

This year’s jury comprised actress Eva Longoria, American film producer Elizabeth Karlsen, and Irish director Lenny Abrahamson, along with Chopard Co-President Caroline Scheufele and Steven Gaydos, Executive Editor of Variety.

Powley was chosen for her roles in A Diary for a Teenage Girl and A Royal Night Out; and Boyega for shining as Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

They were handed their trophies by Oscar- and Cannes-winning actress Juliette Binoche at a ceremony at the Chopard Rooftop of the Martinez Hotel.

The ceremony was followed by a soirée attended by Julianne Moore, Kirsten Dunst, Mads Mikkelsen, Araya Hargate, Emilia Schüle, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Valeria Golino, Harvey Weinstein, Pierre Lescure, Chris Norton, Garance Doré, Nicole Warne and Kristina Bazan.

New York jazz trumpeter Chris Norton and his quartet entertained guests, and was followed by London-based DJ Amber Le Bon.

Chopard has been a partner of the Cannes Film Festival since 1998.
