Shining Ode to Africa

Gemfields has partnered with Jewel of Africa to create a special limited edition of 100 Jewel of Africa x Gemfields pendants crafted in the shape of the African continent and containing the ‘Big Three’ gemstones in a symbolic continental kaleidoscope.

The eye-catching Jewel of Africa x Gemfields collaboration fits the birthstone month of sapphires. The pendant features a 0.20 carat round Zambian emerald, a 0.12 carat Mozambican ruby and 0.12 carat sapphire, all set in an 18-karat yellow gold outline of Africa.

Meanwhile, Gemfields has launched the final instalment in the trilogy of books dedicated to the celebration of coloured gemstones.

The release of Sapphire – which follows on from Emerald and Ruby – will complete a literary trifecta dedicated to the most revered coloured gemstones: emeralds, rubies and sapphires, often called “the big three”. The book is published by Thames & Hudson in association with Violette Editions.

A decade in the making, this triptych of beautifully presented books – each with a jewel-coloured cover to set the tone – was written and researched by author and gemmologist Joanna Hardy.

As a world-leading supplier of responsibly sourced coloured gemstones, Gemfields is passionate about this subject. It has accrued years of knowledge of coloured gemstones as the operator of both Kagem in Zambia, the world’s single largest emerald mine, and Montepuez Ruby Mining in Mozambique.
