The second edition of the DIFC Sculpture Park once again sees the participation of Oblong Contemporary Art Gallery among the protagonists of the 2023 exhibition event entitled “Tales Under the Gate”.
The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), one of Dubai's most beautiful destinations, is now transformed into an extraordinary contemporary sculpture park.
Oblong Contemporary Art Gallery, a leading international art gallery based in Dubai's Bluewaters Island, contributes to the initiative by installing the works of three of the gallery's artists: Antonio Signorini, Gianfranco Meggiato and Michelangelo Bastiani.
The three artists, chosen by Oblong's Gallerist Paola Marucci to exhibit in this special exhibition, represent the world of contemporary sculpture through different themes and artist's poetics showing a great creative intensity and intrinsic beauty.
Antonio Signorini, whose two white flying horses are on display in DIFC Sculpture Park, is also currently the protagonist of a large solo exhibition taking place in the most evocative squares of the historical center of Florence (Italy), organised by Oblong Contemporary Gallery together with the city of Florence.
Meggiato displays at DIFC a gilded bronze sculpture entitled Shell Sphere, the central sphere represents the harmony and the search for peace in the intricate but precious weave of life. The artist has recently exhibited in the Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa (Italy), in front of the world-famous Leaning Tower, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
Bastiani creates sculptures in special materials and installations with holograms and interactive video projections on LED screens to explore the theme of liquidity. Earth and air in your steps, Cloud in the desert and Trail, are the three works installed at DIFC that show the artist's various areas of research. Bastiani has exhibited in many parts of the world, including Florence, Rome, Venice, Milan, London, Istanbul, Frankfurt, New York, and Miami.
"I am very happy to participate with the artists of my gallery in this important event, which sees sculpture in the foreground. We are at the second edition, and being there, once again this year, means contributing to the success of the initiative and its dissemination to a public that is growing and that we hope will be even more numerous in this edition," said Marucci.
