Spring/Summer 2023
This year’s event is particularly significant as it is the first time the show has been held post Covid-19. The biennial event, which was last held in 2019, is set to take place from June 19 to 25 at the Le Bourget exhibition centre in Paris, and aviation enthusiasts and aerospace industry leaders eagerly await to see what this year’s show has in store for them.
The 54th Paris Air Show, one of the most significant events in the aerospace industry, attracts a diverse range of exhibitors from various sectors, including commercial, business and military aviation, space, and defence.
The previous event, which was scheduled to take place in 2021, was cancelled due to the pandemic. As a result, there is a lot of anticipation and excitement surrounding the show, as exhibitors and visitors alike look forward to reconnecting and exploring new opportunities.
For participants, the Paris Air Show provides an opportunity to network with peers, meet with potential customers and suppliers, and showcase their latest innovations. The event features a range of conferences, workshops, and business meetings, where attendees can discuss industry trends, new technologies, and emerging opportunities. Additionally, the show attracts thousands of visitors from around the world, including industry professionals, government officials, and members of the public, providing a platform for companies to raise their profile and connect with a global audience.
Since its launch in 1909, the International Paris Air Show has constantly grown, and remains one of the largest aerospace events in the world. Exhibiting at the show means very simply participating in the most fascinating gathering for the industry and all its players, manufacturers and users, say show organisers.
The focus of this year’s event is expected to be on sustainability and innovation, as the aerospace industry looks to reduce its carbon footprint and improve its environmental impact.
One of the major trends that are expected to be discussed at the show is the growing use of electric and hybrid propulsion systems in aviation. Another trend that is likely to be discussed is the use of artificial intelligence and big data analytics in aircraft design, manufacturing, and maintenance, as well as air traffic management.
The Paris Air Show is also an opportunity for major aerospace companies to showcase their latest products and technologies. Among the companies that will be exhibiting at the event are Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Bombardier, and Safran.
It’s not just the big players that will be exhibiting at the show. The Paris Air Show is also a platform for startups and smaller firms to showcase their innovations. The event features a dedicated startup area, where entrepreneurs can pitch their ideas to potential investors and partners.
And it’s not all business at the show. The event also features daily flying displays, where visitors can see aircraft in action, performing aerobatic manoeuvres and demonstrating their capabilities.
Covering over 320,000 square metres, the show is set to bring together the brightest minds in the industry for a week of exhilarating exhibits, displays, and discussions.
One of the highlights of the show is the static display area, where visitors can admire a wide range of aircraft, from small regional jets to large commercial airliners and military planes. Here, visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the features and capabilities of these incredible machines. The event also features daily flying displays, where you can witness awe-inspiring aerobatic manoeuvres and see aircraft in action, demonstrating their capabilities.
In 2019, the Paris Air Show welcomed a record number of exhibitors, with more than 2,450 companies present. The show was deemed a huge success, with over $140 billion worth of orders placed. It attracted professionals in the sector and the general public, with 316,000 visitors and 2,700 journalists attending during the week. Visitors were also treated to a spectacular showcase of 140 aircraft, 36 of which took to the skies for flying displays.
Paris Air Mobility
This year’s show promises to be even more exciting, with the addition of Paris Air Mobility. This event will showcase the latest innovations and emerging technologies in eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) and bring together key players in the industry for networking and knowledge exchange. It will feature an exhibition area where manufacturers and start-ups can display their revolutionary products and services, alongside an industry-leading conference programme. Senior-level speakers will provide analyses and insights on the current state of the advanced air mobility market (AAM) market and how to drive the industry forward.
Patrick Daher, International Paris Air Show Chairman, said: “We are proud to organise for the first time in the world, the largest exhibition of eVTOL and to launch this amazing initiative with the partnership of Aviation Week Network. The entire ecosystem of this new air mobility will be at the Paris Air Show 2023.”
In addition, the Paris Air Lab will take visitors to the heart of the new air transport revolution. This year’s exhibition will be fully mobilised to face the challenge of decarbonisation, showcasing a profusion of programmes, research projects, and technological breakthroughs spread over 1,000 sq m at the heart of the show. Visitors can meet an entire international ecosystem of manufacturers, researchers, and energy providers committed to a demanding roadmap, including ultra-clean engines, new aircraft configurations, green operations, bio-based or synthetic fuels, and hydrogen.
If you’re looking for career opportunities in the aviation industry, the Avion des Métiers is the place to be. This event allows job-seekers to meet professionals in the sector to discuss their jobs and their daily contribution to the industry’s ecological and energy transformation. Sixteen aeronautical design, production, and maintenance professions will be presented by some 40 professionals from the sector who will take turns throughout the week to share their passion with you.
