Surrounded by family and close friends, de Grisogono's founder Fawaz Gruosi held an extravagant birthday bash for 600 guests yesterday at the Port Cervo, the glamorous Italian seaside resort.
The party was held under the theme 'Fawaz's Folies' at the Hotel Cala di Volpe, which overlooks the bay on the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia and attended by number of celebrities and VIPs.
Guests were treated to a private concert by Shaggy, top of the world’s music charts singer known for his hit reggae-fusion songs, that went on till dawn by the beach.
Amongst the celebrities were American film producer Harvey Weinstein, international top model Nina Agdal, Lindsay Lohan, Amaury Nolasco, Eva Cavalli, Fiona Swarovski, Italian actress Valeria Marini, Claudia Galanti and Raffaella Zardo.
Gruosi, who turned 64, also used the occasion to launch a private exhibition of his house’s Folies collection – unique and exceptional jewellery which are said to embody his creativeness.
On show is a one-of-a-kind diamond choker, paved with more than 90 carats of white and icy diamonds and encrusted with six pear-shaped diamonds. Enhanced with a row of blue sapphires, the openworked necklace is delicately engraved with de Grisogono’s characteristic scrolling motifs.
Other pieces on display include a red and white ring with an oval-shaped Burmese ruby surrounded by four claws set with rubies and diamonds, and a pair of earrings in which two rectangular emeralds mark the end of a cascade of sapphires and emeralds.
The jewellery will remain on display at the hotel until August 15.
