A Dutch developer is tempting discerning Dubai residents to go back to nature and live in luxury on water by buying one of its organic-shaped floating homes.

The luxury residences will be environmentally sustainable and use renewable energy as much as possible, says New Living on Water (NLW), which will showcase the floating homes at next month’s Cityscape Global exhibition in the UAE city.

While not revealing exactly where these homes will or can be built, NLW’s managing director and co-owner Menno de Roos says the floating residences “guarantee both the privacy and nature that people are looking for, as well as the comfort of being part of a six-star super luxury beachfront resort”.

“A lot of people nowadays live in very densely populated areas, and for most of them this is no problem in everyday life. But the need for some privacy and the inner need of being connected to nature has always been with us, and that’s what we’re offering.

“They were developed for a very small niche market, and designed with sustainability in mind in order to create mutual respect between humans and environment. Renewable energy sources are used as much as possible.”

NLW expects to sell $50 million worth of these floating homes over the first 12 months, and at least double that in 2017-18.

The homes have been developed by NLW and CIG, an industrial conglomerate engaged in shipbuilding, constructional design and production for complex architectural projects and the renewable energy industry.

Among the overseas projects vying for attention at the exhibition will be a golfing residence in the Azerbaijan capital Baku featuring a school, golf course and academy, training zones and fitness centres in a gated community with villas, apartments, cafes, restaurants and retail outlets.

The developers of Dreamland Country & Life hope the project’s location, in one of the country’s “most ecologically clean” areas, and just a three-hour flight from Dubai, will give it traction with GCC investors and golf lovers.

“Our climate rarely surpasses 35 C, even at the height of summer when it’s possible to play golf until 8.30 pm,” said Abdolbari Goozal, Chairman of Intersun Group of Companies. “This is a landmark project in Azerbaijan which will make a significant contribution to the country’s tourism, and Cityscape Global gives us a perfect opportunity to introduce it to golf and lifestyle seekers on an international scale.”

Now in its 15^th edition, Cityscape Global will be held from September 6 to 8 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Next March the inaugural Cityscape India will be launched in Mumbai to add to other events already in Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Doha, Istanbul, Jeddah, Kuwait City and Seoul.
