Olympic timekeeper Omega held a ‘Gold Night’ at its Omega House in Rio de Janeiro, basing its theme on the quest for golden glory by athletes at the 2016 Games.
Brazilian model and actress Alessandra Ambrosio, the guest of honour at the Sunday evening celebration, celebrated the theme of the evening by wearing an Omega 18-karat red gold Seamaster Aqua Terra with a grey dial.
“It’s such an honour to have the Olympic Games here in Rio, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It’s a dream come true for South America, not just Brazil. And to be able to run with the torch and represent my country too! I had my whole family here with me to be able to share in the moment,” she said.
She was also enamoured by Omega House. “Casa de Cultura is an amazing place and Omega did such an incredible job of the restoration in keeping it authentic. Right now for the Olympic Games, it’s an amazing place to come and to hang out and sit in front of one of the most beautiful beaches in the world – Ipanema.”
Omega President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann said he glad to see so many people enjoying the event. “Gold is the colour of accomplishment and excellence and I believe those are some of the key attributes that Omega and the Olympic Games share. Omega House is a great example of our high standards and I love the energy that our guests have brought here.”
Some of Omega’s finest gold watches were on display within the elegantly created setting that featured large golden spheres, a black carpet with gold dust and a gold-themed menu.
Omega House is the brand’s members-only club throughout the Games and is located inside Casa de Cultura Laura Alvim on Ipanema Beach.
Other VIP guests on the night included Brazilian film stars Daniel Rocha, Viviane Pasmanter and Josie Pessoa, Brazilian writer Thalita Reboucas and Brazilian blogger Chris Pitanguy.
