The Capital Club in Bahrain is to host some of the world’s leading chefs under a new monthly series titled ‘Celebrity Chef’.
The initiative aims for an ambitious transformation in the culinary scene in the kingdom, according to the private club.
The inaugural one-week event kicks off next month and will feature Chef Jamie Pesaque from Lima, a global ambassador of Peruvian food and former world top 50 chef.
The series will also host K Pitaya, the founder of one Michelin star Mango Tree restaurant in London and Thailand renowned for Thai cuisine during October, followed by Chef Rasheed Quraishi, maestro of Indian cuisine, in November.
Visiting chefs will be taken to the local farms, fish and meat markets in Bahrain with a challenge of using 70 per cent of local produce in their dishes during the pop-up event hosted at the Capital Club. The events will be tailor-made for VIPs, club members and their guests.
Summer Jhingan, General Manager of Capital Club Bahrain, said: “We are proud to announce this unique initiative that aims to lead change in Bahrain’s culinary sector and are pleased to host Chef Jamie Pesaque as our first celebrity guest.”
The chefs will also be visiting Bahrain Institute for Hospitality and Retail (BIHR) where students will have the opportunity to meet the chefs and be trained under their wings. In addition, the club will host culinary talks for the students, followed by a fully sponsored internship with the chef in their hometown.
“This initiative will not only focus on the club hosting exceptional events for members and guests, but also train and groom local talent where they will be given the opportunity to work first-hand with the best of the best,” he added.
The chefs will also visit restaurants around Bahrain to interact and engage with local businessmen, with hopes of encouraging them to invest in the kingdom.
