A 66-m explorer yacht that challenges the realms of technology with a detachable ‘floating lodge’ and a four-seater flying drone will be presented at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show.
Called Time, the concept yacht has been designed by Henry Ward Design in collaboration with BMT Nigel Gee.
Above all else, Time provides guests with an abundance of unforgettable experiences, they say.
The yacht carries an 18-m floating lodge, docked within the aft end of the vessel and designed to blend in as a fixed part of the superstructure. On approach to shallow waters, the lodge can be launched as an independent base for mini-expeditions in harder to reach places.
On board is an owner’s cabin, a second guest cabin and open-plan galley/living/dining area. When moored in a secluded location, the aft section of the lodge folds down for direct water access and indoor/outdoor living.
Time also has an autonomous drone housed in a hanger in the bow that is capable of transporting four guests and will take care of all piloting and navigation autonomously.
Standing 15 m above sea level, the sights that can be seen from the sky deck will be truly unmissable. This viewing platform is accessed from the sundeck above the wellness level of the yacht, which includes a gym, massage room and sauna.
The bar area on this deck leads out to a terrace with hot tub and views forward over the bow.
Guests in need of more thrills can scale an inverted climbing wall on its aft face and when they just can’t hold on any longer, splash back down into the 8-m pool below!
When not in use, the pool can be covered to create a larger entertainment space for parties and alfresco dining.
The beach club is another impressive area on the yacht. When the 18-m floating lodge is not docked, a large protected splash pool is revealed, with the aft topsides of the yacht folding down to maximise available space and creating 190 sq m of deck around the pool.
At the forward end is a bar for refreshments, leading through to the toy store and tender garage which, amongst other goodies, features two 8.5-m tenders.
Spread over seven decks, Time accommodates a full beam owner’s suite and three VIP cabins on the main deck. Perhaps the most impressive entrance to the yacht is via the starboard side passerelle, which leads directly into the main living area with its floor-to-ceiling windows and views aft through the glass walled swimming pool.
The bow garage solution presents a unique new concept for the storage and deployment of the yacht’s tenders and equipment, whether it be a high payload drone, for transportation, route finding and wildlife observation, or for a more conventional tender.
BMT Nigel Gee has carried out an initial feasibility study for the naval architecture of this 66-m yacht. Time is powered by a twin azimuthing drive system with a total power of 3,000 kW achieving a cruising speed of 15 knots. She will be capable of a range in excess of 5,000 nautical miles at her passage speed of 12 knots.
Henry Ward Design is a UK-based design studio which specialises in contemporary projects for the marine industry but also have a growing portfolio of unique architectural, product and transportation designs.
BMT Nigel Gee, based in Southampton, UK, is one of the world’s leading independent design consultancies offering a portfolio of services for advanced and specialised ships and boats, from initial concept to detailed design.
The Monaco Yacht Show will be held in Port Hercules from September 28 to October 1 and BMTW will be showing off the concept at Stand QS30.
