Bulgari’s new bejewelled limited edition Serpenti bag is inspired by the brand’s famous Seven Wonders necklace.
The necklace, made of platinum, emeralds and diamonds, was famously worn by Italian actress Monica Vitti as seen in an iconic photograph taken by Karen Radkai in 1963.
The bag features 1 32 individually set gemstones on exotic python skin. Its design is screen-printed onto the snakeskin, and its panel hand-polished by Bulgari artisans.
The bag’s black scales contrast with red gemstones, accentuated by textured hues of white.
It takes three months to make a single bag and just 132 of these are being made in tribute to the brand’s 132-year history.
Meanwhile, Bulgari has released its 2016 Fall-Winter accessories collection which is “born of the very essence” of the Italian fashion house.
The modern design is enhanced by the gemstone palette of the Earth and the glorious volumes of Rome. In luxury handbags, silken scarves and shapely sunglasses, the 2016 accessories celebrate their creator - the master of gemstones - as they accentuate two of Bulgari’s signature collections: Serpenti and Bvlgari Bvlgari.
The vibrancy of jewels are expressed in the colours of Bulgari’s leathers, eyewear and silks. In blues sparkles a Royal Sapphire, the brilliant stone to top the crown. Deliciously red is Raspberry Agate, ripe and smooth with a stony sheen. Bright Sunflower Citrine grows tall against a Teal Topaz sky, shining in the colours of autumn. Plum Amethyst is crystallised with violet, luminescent with pure elegance. Desert Quartz sizzles all year. Passionate and sensual, the Ruby Red of Bulgari acts as the foundation of the designer’s desires.
The 2016 Serpenti and Bvlgari Bvlgari accessories are emboldened by the charismatic soul of the jeweller and both “capture the audacious spirit of the brand”.
