Lufthansa Technik Malta gets new CEO


Marcus Motschenbacher has been appointed as the CEO of Lufthansa Technik Malta. 

An industrial engineer, Motschenbacher was previously Director Network Sales & Customer Service for Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg, Germany.

Motschenbacher, 44, replaces Stephan Drewes, 52, who is now heading up the Production Network Aircraft Base Maintenance for Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg. 

A computer science graduate, Drewes had been CEO of Lufthansa Technik Malta since 2011.

"Marcus Motschenbacher is an internationally experienced manager, and his career to date makes him ideally suited for this demanding task. He is able to seamlessly continue the successful work of Stephan Drewes," says Thomas Rueckert, Head of Aircraft Overhaul at Lufthansa Technik.

"At the same time, I am delighted that Stephan Drewes, as head of the entire international production network, will be making his comprehensive expertise available to us all."

The Aircraft Overhaul division at Lufthansa Technik is responsible for the overhaul and cabin modification of commercial customers' Airbus and Boeing aircraft. 

The division has sites in Germany, Ireland, Malta, Hungary, Bulgaria, Puerto Rico and the Philippines, and carries out more than 600 overhaul operations on the C-Check scale or higher every year. In winter, the busiest period for overhauls, the workforce of around 5,500 is at work on up to 40 overhaul lines.
