Italy’s Wider says that the green award it won at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show is further proof of its prowess as a shipyard that offers ecological benefits to yacht owners and their crew.
During the show, a Wider 150 christened Genesi was bestowed the Rina Platinum Green Plus Award, as the most eco-friendly superyacht whose construction complies with a series of performance specifications as defined by the Italian classification company.
Presented annually to the best yacht over 40m, the award recognizes that the Wider 150 exceeds every other yacht in terms of her “green” credentials, taking in to consideration fuel consumption, as well as overall environmental impact from construction.
The prestigious award was handed over by Prince Albert II of Monaco together with Rina’s CEO Ugo Salerno at a ceremony aboard the yacht.
Prince Albert, who inspected the yacht in the presence of by Wider founders Tilli Antonelli and Paolo Favilla, expressed great appreciation for the technology on board the ground-breaking Genesi.
Having already won prizes for best yacht in class at the 2016 MYS Award Ceremony, World Superyacht Awards and World Yachts Trophies, the addition of this important and prestigious award further cements Wider’s reputation as a shipyard that offers genuine innovation that is a benefit to yacht owners and their crew, enriching their enjoyment of the vessel and their time at sea whilst using modern technology to ensure it has a low environmental impact, the yard said.
Wider specialises in the design and construction of composite and aluminum pleasure craft with a strong focus on outstanding performance combined with low consumption.
Established in 2010, the company is led by Antonelli, one of the most highly regarded and dynamic entrepreneurs in the international yacht building industry.
The Monaco Yacht Show ran from September 28 to October 1.
