Lufthansa Technik has received the first order for its innovative ‘chair’ aircraft seat from an undisclosed VIP customer.
The German firm revealed the news ahead of the 2016 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), which opens today in Orlando, US.
Inairvation, Lufthansa Technik's joint venture with F/List, will coordinate the
production of the ‘chairs’ by F/List.
Oliver Thomaschewski, Head of BU Seating and Structures at Lufthansa Technik's Original Equipment Innovation Division, said: “This order means the final breakthrough for our vision which we had when we started development of this highly innovative and flexible product a few years ago. We are extremely happy and proud that we have been able to bring this idea into the real VIP aircraft cabin world. My team has done a great job over the past years. Together with our partners from F/List and Inairvation we are in the best position to produce any of the several thousands of possibilities of the ‘chair’ family in an absolutely top-end quality.”
The modular VIP product family ‘chair’ has received 9g and 16g ETSO (European Technical Standard Order) approval in May 2016.
Lufthansa Technik's Original Equipment Innovation Division in Hamburg is responsible for all airworthiness requirements and the final certification, whereas F/List takes care of the production of the skeleton and all rigid surfaces at its site in Thomasberg, Austria.
Inairvation is coordinating production and sales of the aircraft seat.
The VIP seating solution has been developed and certified by Lufthansa Technik in cooperation with Pierrejean Design Studio. The customisable ‘chair’ skeleton is a perfect backbone for any advanced aesthetic design with an individual signature of the customers' designer.
For upholstery, the customer may choose its own favourite supplier or rely on the experienced Inairvation partner Boxmark.
Inairvation offers unique cabin solutions for business jets, including inflight entertainment and cabin management, furniture, wiring and lighting technology, seamlessly integrated from the concept design all the way to the finished product.
The Lufthansa Technik Group, with more than 30 subsidiaries and associates and over 25,000 employees worldwide, is one of the leading manufacturers and independent providers of technical services for the aviation industry. Its portfolio encompasses the entire spectrum of services for commercial aircraft: maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification and conversion, engines and components.
