The 57th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) will feature around 1,000 exhibitors from more than 30 countries, and nearly 1,500 boats – including six yachts 200 feet or more long – will be offered for sale or charter.
Held at Fort Lauderdale in Florida, one of the yachting capitals of the world, the show opens today and runs until November 7, 2016.
Show exhibits range from yacht builders and designers to exotic cars and brokerage yachts. A wide variety of boats will be on display including runabouts, sportfishers, high performance boats, centre consoles, cabin cruisers, flats boats, skiffs, express cruisers, sailing yachts, motor yachts, bowriders, catamarans, ski boats, jet boats, trawlers, inflatables, canoes, and extraordinary superyachts.
The 2016 edition will feature more than $4 billion of marine merchandise and accessories on display across seven sites in Fort Lauderdale, according to reports.
This year’s show will showcase a larger selection of superyachts that ever before.
Among the more than 100 yachts larger than 100 feet that will be on display at the show are six massive vessels larger than 200 feet.
While yachts of this size surely assume an extraordinary amount of space along the Face Dock of the Bahia Mar and Hall of Fame Marina show locations, even more astonishing are the numbers they command for purchase or charter, say the organisers.
They are among the largest yachts in the world and are sure to draw major crowds at the show, they say.
