Frederique Constant recently launched its latest generation of horological smartwatches in Dubai, UAE.
The manufacture has completely redesigned the men’s watch with five new versions while bring out five models for women for the very first time. They were unveiled by Sébastien Cretegny, Managing Director Asia, at a breakfast hosted at Fortnum & Mason.
“We are excited to reveal the next generation of horological smartwatches with our partners Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. As the first traditional Swiss watch company to embrace the coming of wearable tech, the model features health related functions to support and enhance an active lifestyle,” said Cretegny.
“The UAE is a very important market with discerning users that look for new technologies and advanced functions while appreciating classic design so we are confident the pieces will be well received.”
First launched in 2015, the brand’s horological smartwatch was born after three years of extensive research and development with Frederique Constant being the first in the Swiss watch industry to introduce a Horological Smartwatch in collaboration with Manufacture Modules Technologies (MMT), which was established in Geneva in 2015 to conceive innovative and creative ways to bring the technological traits of the Smartwatch into the classic universe of haute horlogerie.
In the Ladies models, the recognisable sub-dial which is used to display the date and the “activity tracking” percentage opens up and the focus shifts to the 2, 4, 8, and 10 o’clock positions which reveal its newest features: call notifications, sleep monitoring, activity tracking, and text notifications, respectively.
The new Ladies models sport a feminine look with intricate detailed dials featuring guilloché decoration, various mother-of-pearl accents, applied Roman numeral indexes, and white diamonds. Three of the models come in an all-steel offering and two in an elegant combination of steel and rose gold-plated bracelets.
MMT SwissConnect designed the Ladies MMT-281 quartz module at a smaller scale to fit the more feminine, elegant 34-mm case. The module is powered by 2+ year battery life.
The new men’s timepieces meanwhile present a modern twist on the classic look of its predecessor. Arabic numbers replace traditional Roman numerals, different coloured dials such as navy blue, black and silver embellished by four different style leather straps in their black, blue, dark brown or light brown versions turn the watch into a genuine sports model for the active man.
The MMT-282 quartz module is encapsulated in a 42-mm case and is completed with a 4+ year battery life.
The horological smartwatch’s features include SMS and chat notifications, keeping track of the wearer’s activity such as daily steps, calories burned, and total distance, monitoring sleep, automatic time and date adjustment wherever you are, get-active alerts, tips and information catered based on activity and sleep goals, and back up of data on the cloud.
The new MMT-365 app which connects to the smartwatch via Bluetooth is available on both iOS and Android systems.
