Lotusier has launched a new brand in the global luxury marketplace that marks a significant development in the history of tea.
The firm is offering the world’s first Tea Humidor, exquisitely crafted and designed to elevate the preservation and presentation of tea. Conceived for the storage of a variety of fine teas in optimal conditions, Lotusier’s Tea Humidor is made from the finest woods and materials, sensitively and responsibly sourced, and draws on the highest European artisanal skills and traditions. Each of the more than 20 components has been carefully and lovingly perfected, over the course of nearly four years’ research and development.
The Lotusier Tea Humidor is a collectable objet d’art item that will be prized by tea lovers, aesthetes and connoisseurs across many fields with an appreciation for design and rare craftsmanship. The teas are stored in a handmade Humidor which has been specially designed to promote the beauty of tea whilst preserving its flavours and qualities. The Tea Humidor showcases the skills of numerous expert craftsmen, as displayed in the exquisite wood marquetry of its exterior, and the hand-crafted crystalware inside, made in Italy and France.
The Tea Humidor is available in five collections, each inspired by a specific tea drinking culture: China (Cha Jing Collection), Japan (Saicho Collection), the Indian Subcontinent (Indus Collection), the Middle East (Andalus Collection), and the Euro-American Occident (Déco Collection). The Humidor opens to reveal innovatively designed hand-blown crystal containers that form the hub of an elegant humidification system, complete with bespoke German precision instruments for monitoring, as well as Swiss-made accessories and hardware. Each Humidor is a compelling blend of form and function, seamlessly incorporating technology and practicality.
The Tea Humidor is a boon for serious tea lovers. It effectively protects against four of the five enemies of tea: humidity, light, air and odours. By means of two-way humidity control it enables the user to add or remove humidity effectively for up to six teas, which are individually housed in one Humidor. Deterioration from exposure to light, air and odours is prevented by the overall design and the separate airtight crystal containers. The fifth enemy, heat, is easily controlled externally, by regulating the temperature in the room/setting that the Tea Humidor is placed within. The storage of tea has never been considered to this level - the Lotusier Tea Humidor has two international patents pending - making this an exciting development in tea history.
The creation of the Tea Humidor was born of a personal passion for tea and bears witness to a growing enjoyment of fine and rare teas around the world. Madame Yu Hui Tseng, widely hailed as one of the greatest authorities on tea in the world, is one of only ten internationally recognized Gongfu Tea Masters. For over two decades Madame Tseng has been a prominent ambassador of tea, raising awareness of its status as an art of living, and a field of great complexity and sophistication.
