A Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) recently made an extra-long distance flight from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to Frankfurt in Germany, with its passengers making light of the 12-hour trip thanks to the luxurious interiors done by VIP completions specialist Lufthansa Technik.
The BBJ2 was completed and delivered by Lufthansa Technik earlier this year to ACM Air Charter in Baden-Baden, Germany.
The jet, operated for a private customer, flew 5139.1 nautical miles (9,523.9 km) non-stop with six passengers on board.
The flight took 12 hours and two minutes.
ACM Air Charter Managing Director Thomas Minninger says: "We are really impressed by the performance of this BBJ2. The range of the aircraft and the high-class cabin interior which guarantees the well-being of its passengers especially on long-haul flights clearly prove that the completion experts from Lufthansa Technik have done a great job. It is a pure pleasure to fly with this aircraft."
The BBJ2’s ultra-modern cabin was designed by a renowned international design bureau in London. The jet’s range was optimised by using lightweight elements and design principles that take into consideration their centre of gravity.
Despite the fact that design and engineering were focused on weight reduction and range, the interior of the jet contains several innovations like a steam shower, an open cooking station, an air humidification system and lower cabin altitude.
Additionally, the aircraft is equipped with Lufthansa Technik’s state-of-the-art ‘nice’ inflight entertainment and cabin management system, including GSM connectivity and live-TV.
The ‘nice’ system can be controlled via personal devices such as the iPad or iPhone.
The BBJ2 is also said to be the first 737 to be equipped with a 65-inch high definition monitor, delivering a “real cinematic experience”.
ACM Air Charter offers a complete portfolio of services in business aviation including aircraft management, charter services, line and base maintenance, as well as handling and hangarage at its home base in Airport Karlsruhe, Baden-Baden.
ACM operates a fleet of eight jets comprising two BBJ2s, two Bombardier Globals (6000 and XRS), one Dassault Falcon 7X, two Dassault Falcon 2000EX EASy’s and a Cessna Citation X.
