A Mercedes-Benz initiative highlighting inspirational women around the world is being launched across the GCC.
Bringing together a community of likeminded successful and ambitious women, ‘She’s Mercedes’ is a global initiative that focuses on connecting and encouraging women to share experiences, learn from one another and inspire others in the region and beyond.
The She’s Mercedes initiative is being launched regionally by Mercedes-Benz Cars Middle East through a series of dinners that encourage exchange of experiences and insights, and will showcase the depth of female achievement in the Middle East to the world.
Six inspiring and talented women from different fields and industries from the Middle East are ambassadors of the initiative: Ambareen Musa, founder of Souqalmal.com, Bushra Bint Darwish, Emirati jewellery designer, Jumana Abu-Hannoud, Managing Director of SOS International Children’s Village Advisor and co-founder of the GCC chapter of the 30% Club, Katia Jundi, Managing Partner at MPP Middle East, Maria Iqbal, pop artist and furniture designer, and Shurooq Zainal, Legal Director at Clyde & Co.
Co-hosting a series of dinners, each of the six women have invited six inspirational women within their respective communities, with the series culminating in a gala dinner at the end of the year to honour the diversity of the region’s inspirational women.
Kerstin Heiligenstetter, Head of the She’s Mercedes initiative said: “Women really have played an important role in the history of Mercedes-Benz – as researchers, developers, engineers and not in the least as discerning customers. Even the brand name can be traced back to two women: Mercedes Jelinek, daughter of an Austrian businessman who launched the sale of Daimler vehicles in 1898, and Bertha Benz, who undertook the first long-distance journey in the early days of the automobile. This initiative is about honouring these women, and the countless others who are instrumental in the success of today’s businesses and communities, and effecting excellence in those around them.”
The Middle East is among 28 markets developing their own interpretation of the She’s Mercedes initiative, and is being launched in the UAE and rolled out across the GCC and Levant.
Raghad Tayeh, Media & Public Relations, Mercedes-Benz Middle East and organiser of regional initiative expanded: “She’s Mercedes is a wonderful initiative to recognise and celebrate the determination and success of women in this region. The women we have invited as our founding members range in age, industry and level of success, but all have a keen sense of purpose, are driven by performance, and will inspire others beyond their communities. We are proud of our association with each one of them, and delighted that we have an opportunity to highlight the wealth of inspirational women we have in our region.”
