Ruag Aviation in Munich has completed a 15-month and 30-month heavy maintenance inspection on a Gulfstream G550.
Long-time partner Sky-Tech Maintenance Service awarded the contract which was optimised to include full aircraft painting and engine maintenance.
The project ran according to schedule and was delivered to complete customer satisfaction, Ruag says.
“The full selection of one-stop shop solutions available at Ruag allowed us to cater to our Gulfstream G550 customer’s individual needs,” states Victor Soria Sainz, Manager, Sky-Tech Maintenance Service. “Over the years, on previous aircraft projects, Ruag has consistently proven to be a reliable partner for heavy maintenance events and on-schedule aircraft availability. So we are very pleased they include the Gulfstream G550 in their service portfolio.”
The 15-month and 30-month maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) event required a five-week downtime which Sky-Tech chose to combine with a full exterior repainting of the G550, at the owner’s request.
The completed repainting required the Ruag aircraft painting specialists to adapt a new livery design, matching the owner’s vision and requirements.
The exterior repainting in the dedicated aircraft painting shop followed on the in-house production of the design masks.
In addition to MRO and aircraft painting, Ruag technicians fulfilled line maintenance services on the Rolls-Royce engines.
Ruag also supported partner Sky-Tech with specific Gulfstream G550 knowledge sharing, enabling on-the-job training for their own engineering technician.
Ruag Aviation’s one-stop shop proves itself a reliable outsourcing partner to other aircraft service providers seeking to enhance and expand the solutions they offer their customers.
“Our organisation remains responsive to meeting individual customer needs. Aircraft services providers appreciate this and regularly approach us for the complementary solutions we bring to their projects,” explains Volker Wallrodt, Senior Vice President Business Jets, Dornier 228 & Components, Ruag Aviation.
Engineering is at the centre of Ruag Aviation’s capabilities. It is a European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 145 Maintenance Organisation, a Part 21G and 21J Design Organisation (DOA), and retains Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approvals to include full maintenance services for business aircraft.
Ruag Aviation is headquartered in Bern, Switzerland. It has production sites in Switzerland and in 13 other countries in Europe, the US and Asia-Pacific. It is a one-stop shop for the support of business aircraft, performing all required services within one single downtime, adapted to suit individual schedules.
