Autumn 2017
Embraer throws the spotlight on its mid-size and large jets at the Dubai Airshow
Embraer Executive jets, which celebrated a delivery milestone earlier this year, will be at the 2017 Dubai Airshow in November to display the prowess and versatility of three of its jets. On show will be the Legacy 500, the Legacy 650E and the Lineage 1000E.
The Legacy 500 is said to have the best-in-class six-foot flat-floor cabin, which is comparable to those of some aircraft in the super midsize category. Eight club seats may be berthed into four beds for complete rest in a cabin altitude of 6,000 feet. The in-flight entertainment system consists of a high definition video system, surround sound, multiple audio and video input options, a cabin management system, and three options for voice communications and connectivity.
The Legacy 500 is the first midsize business jet with digital flight controls, based on fly-by-wire technology, featuring side sticks. The Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics suite on four 15-inch LCD displays allows graphical flight planning, and has options like paperless operations capability, auto brakes, and the E2VS (Embraer enhanced vision system), which includes a head up display (HUD) with the enhanced vision system (EVS).
The jet is capable of flying at 45,000 feet and is powered by two Honeywell HTF7500E engines, the greenest in their class. Taking off from airfields as short as 4,084 ft, the jet has a range of 3,125 nautical miles (5,788 km) with four passengers.
LEGACY 650
Embraer unveiled a new version of its Legacy 650 large business jet, the Legacy 650E, in October last year. Featuring automation and technology updates, the aircraft now carries a 10-year or 10,000-flight hour warranty, which is the longest in the business jet industry, according to the Brazilian firm.
With restyled seat upholstery, the jet’s spacious cabin features three distinct cabin zones with ample privacy, plus the option for a separate crew lavatory.
Refinements to the aircraft fight deck include the Synthetic Vision System (SVS), as part of the latest Primus Elite Advanced Features (PEAF) from Honeywell, which also includes traffic collision avoidance system symbology and XM ground-based weather information to the moving map, providing pilots with enhanced situational awareness. In addition to the PEAF, the Legacy 650E also comes with auto throttle as standard equipment, improving the level of automation and reducing the cockpit workload. These technologies complement the proven Legacy 650E avionics system.
Besides that, two iPads with mounting systems are available in the cockpit, enabling pilots to enjoy a friendlier interface, easier updates and a full range of other tools to support their operation. These features reduce cockpit workload and create a more intuitive environment.
The Legacy 650E carries up to 14 passengers, has a best-in-class galley, a fully accessible in-flight baggage compartment that is larger than most ultra-long-range business jets, internet connectivity and the latest generation in full-HD inflight entertainment, with Honeywell’s Ovation Select entertainment and cabin management system. The aircraft has a range of 3,900 nautical miles (7,223 km) with four passengers.
In August, Embraer showed off a Legacy 650E in special livery at the 2017 Latin American Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (Labace) in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The livery was specially designed as a work of art, to reflect its prominence as a globally desired business jet. The bold paint design is a visual masterpiece that unites the aircraft’s aesthetic and robust heritage with its modern appeal and advanced technology.
Featuring a blue gradient as its backdrop, the aircraft’s colour scheme conveys a sense of power, integrity and safety through the generous use of dark blue; the gradual light blue transition represents health, tranquillity and inspiration; and metallic silver accents provide an elegant and rich appearance.
A world map, replete with visual reminders of the jet’s attributes and value proposition, provides a stunning centrepiece for the meticulously designed artwork and brings the Legacy 650E’s evolution to life.
LARGEST JET
The ultra-large Lineage 1000E is Embraer’s largest executive jet and can carry up to 19 passengers. Its enhanced interior design is reflected in the new seats, electric doors, refreshed galley and cabinetry design, automatic tables, improved acoustic comfort, and other cabin amenities.
The aircraft features OvationSelect controlled with an iPad. A fully integrated media centre conveniently concentrates multiple media devices and video inputs, including game consoles, and delivers high definition video and audio on a 5.1 surround sound system. A range of 4,600 nm (8,519 km) with eight passengers means it is able to fly non-stop from London (UK) to Beijing (China) or London to Miami (US).
The Lineage 1000E is equipped with the latest fly-by-wire flight control system, and offers the optional Autoland, which conducts approach, touchdown, and a five-second rollout, when the autopilot is engaged. The jet is available with the optional E2VS.
MILESTONE
In May this year, Embraer delivered its 1,100th business jet, a Phenom 300, to NetJets, the world’s largest private aviation company. The best-selling milestone aircraft was delivered to the US-based operator, which has a portfolio of services that includes fractional ownership, jet cards, aircraft management and charter.
“Embraer scored the four-digit mark in business jet deliveries in an impressively short period of time. NetJets has been integral to our success story by co-creating a premium product to meet the discerning tastes of their distinguished owners,” says Michael Amalfitano, President and CEO of Embraer Executive Jets. “We are committed to delivering the most value to our customers, with superior products that offer a unique combination of comfort, performance and operating costs, coupled with an unmatched experience throughout their journey, including the best customer support in the industry.”
Embraer can be seen at Stand A48, S1 3 at the Dubai Airshow.
