The Jewelry Auction, an event eagerly awaited by both dealers and investors following the success of the spring auctions, will be held next week in Milan, Italy.
The public will be able to choose about 1,000 lots whose origins range from the 1700s to the present, representing a cross-section of the Italian goldsmithing tradition at the auction to be held on November 16 and 17 in the halls of Palazzo Crivelli.
The auction is quite varied, due to the number of lots, and ranges from precious stones “in sachet” to gems set in splendid rings. These jewels are not just for connoisseurs and collectors: they speak to everyone who loves chic, elegant jewels, said auction house Il Ponte.
In addition to the ca. 50 round diamonds of all kinds ranging from ct. 0.40 to ca. ct. 5.00, the top lots include five emerald-cut diamonds ranging from 5 to 9.01 carats. This unusual cut was favoured, with some variants, by many famous figures. Richard Burton chose one for the engagement ring he gave Liz Taylor in 1968, and with a variant of a new “Asscher” cut, so did Prince Ranieri III of Monaco when he asked Grace Kelly to be his bride. More recently, Victoria Beckham received one to mark the same occasion. It is undoubtedly the shape that best expresses ultimate class and elegance, it said.
The auction will also feature stunning, timeless emeralds, sapphires and rubies, as well as the always coveted natural pearls: a necklace from the last years of the 1800s in which rich materials and fine workmanship are perfectly combined will also be offered to bidders.
There are many coral pieces as well, rare in dimensions and colors, either loose or set in extravagant creations.
The iconic brands of international jewelry making, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Buccellati, are well represented with various types of ewels. Many lots of Bulgari jewels will be offered, including a 5.25 carat D color step cut diamond in an octagonal shape, but the prince diamond will be a 9.01 carat D colour set in a Tiffny & Co. ring.
