A new era has dawned for Moonen Shipyards as the premium Dutch yachtbuilder launched the beautiful 36-metre Brigadoon.
The first superyacht to feature a hull made of high-tensile steel, Brigadoon heralds an exciting new course for Moonen as it takes a fresh approach to the signature Moonen aesthetic while leveraging on the yard’s rich DNA in terms of comfort and performance.
After the owners have enjoyed two months of cruising, they have agreed to give a public debut to their groundbreaking yacht at the Cannes and Monaco boat shows in September.
Designed by René van der Velden, Brigadoon has her origins in the Moonen Martinique line, part of the Moonen Caribbean design family.
As is the custom at Moonen, the owners have made her very much their own as they get ready to explore the world on a yacht that can go anywhere thanks to its sophisticated and well-developed hull design. Moonens are renowned for their exceptionally comfortable performance at sea and Brigadoon will also benefit from even higher degrees of fuel efficiency thanks to her high-tensile steel hull.
DRIVE FOR INNOVATION
“The main shareholder behind Moonen is strongly engaged and committed to the brand, keen to drive our yard forward in terms of offering clients innovative and eco-friendly solutions,” says Moonen CEO Johan Dubbelman. “We have recently embarked on a renewed and inspiring path that combines the rich heritage of Moonen and its DNA with a fresh take on aesthetics and design.
“Flexibility will be crucial as we allow Moonen owners exceptional leeway when it comes to the superstructure, interior design, layout and onboard facilities and equipment. No other premium quality yard within our size range of 30 to 50 metres can offer such a bespoke approach based on a proven hull and performance. Moreover, Moonen is going to ensure that our designs even more closely reflect the very latest demands from the market in terms of the onboard lifestyle people enjoy.”
WORLD TRAVELLER
Brigadoon has an impressive top speed of 17 knots for a displacement hull and a long range of 4,000 nautical miles. She captures the essence of the Moonen DNA in terms of her incredible standard of engineering while showcasing how the Caribbean family maximises the pleasures of being in close proximity to the water.
The yacht features a remarkable amount of luxury space for her length thanks to a wide-body superstructure with the same beam as the hull. A good example of the benefits this offers is found in the large owners’ suite where having the windows directly on the outer range of the boat looking forward provides superb panoramic views.
SISTERSHIP COMMISSIONED
Offering a distinctive and timeless style, the hull for a sistership to Brigadoon in the Moonen Martinique line has been started. Delivery is scheduled for early 2020 and various interior designers have been challenged to suggest styles for the yacht. Potential owners are invited to contact Moonen to explore how they might become involved in this next future-proof project.
