Boeing Business Jets brings the best of commercial aviation into the realm of private air travel, providing a wide range of planes that are uniquely tailored to customer needs
Boeing Business Jets brings the best of commercial aviation into the realm of private air travel, offering customers a wide range of Boeing airplanes that are uniquely customised for private, business or governmental use, says Alex Fecteau, Director Marketing, BBJ.
“As the world’s most trusted manufacturer for head-of-state operations, built to the highest commercial standards, travellers aboard Boeing Business Jets are assured they fly the most advanced, reliable, and capable airplanes in the sky. Boeing’s worldwide support network, the largest such network in the world, assures equally unmatched support across the globe, all while traveling in bespoke comfort,” he says.
“The Middle East is a very important market for Boeing Business Jets (BBJ) with the region accounting for about 30 per cent of our worldwide BBJ fleet. MEBAA brings together customers from the private, business and government sectors who have the chance to see the latest products on display,” says Fecteau.
The BBJ program began with a high-performance derivative of the Next-Generation 737-700, combining the length of the 737-700 cabin (79 ft 4 in, 24.2 m) with the strengthened wings and landing gear from the larger 737-800. The tailored combination created a business jet platform with a maximum 6,270 nautical mile (11,612 km) range, while requiring less than 6,000 ft (1,829 m) of runway. Also offered were the BBJ 2 and BBJ 3, based on the Next-Generation 737-800 and 737-900ER, providing even more cabin space than the BBJ.
BBJ MAX – EXTENDING THE ADVANTAGES
The BBJ line, which recently sold the last available 737NG based airplane, has transitioned to the BBJ MAX. The BBJ MAX 7, BBJ MAX 8 and BBJ MAX 9 will provide customers with increased range, while reducing operating costs and environmental impact.
Launched in 2014 with the first order for a BBJ MAX 8, this airplane completed flight test and flew away in April of 2018 for installation of the long range fuel system that allows the BBJ MAX family to fly distances previously seen only on wide-body intercontinental-range airliners. Customers from around the world have placed orders for around 20 BBJ MAX airplanes, spanning all three models: the BBJ MAX 7, BBJ MAX 8, and BBJ MAX 9. The first of the BBJ MAX family to be delivered is the BBJ MAX 8.
The BBJ MAX 7, the newest member of the MAX family, provides the best combination of space, range, and comfort in the non-wide-body business jet segment. At 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 km), the BBJ MAX 7 is the furthest flying non-wide-body business jetliner and can connect global hubs like Dubai and New York non-stop. All of this with operating costs the same as competing aircraft with cabins less than half the size.
BBJ WIDEBODIES – THE MARKET LEADER
Seventy per cent of wide-body business jet aircraft sold in the last 21 years have been Boeing Business Jets, and include the 787, 777 and 747. All of these aircraft offer globe spanning range and the space to accommodate even the largest delegations.
FINISHING TOUCHES
One of Boeing Business Jets’ signature features is that every interior cabin is tailored to the customer’s needs. The customer can either personally design and hand-select interior elements and features through many exceptionally capable designers and completion centres, or if desired, allow Boeing Business Jets to manage the VIP interior completion in part or in whole.
