Autumn 2018
Jewellery Arabia offers a unique opportunity to attendees to learn more about diamonds, rubies and pearls so they are able to make the right decisions.
Gemological Institute of America (GIA), a world leader in gems and jewellery education, will offer complimentary seminars on all days of the show. GIA representatives will also be present in the main entrance hall on Stand EH 25 to share information and answer questions about the institute’s education programmes and laboratory services.
At the GIA seminars, experts will offer attendees – ranging from the trade to consumers and connoisseurs – insights into the different aspects of gems and jewellery through complimentary 45-minute sessions.
Seminars will cover the following topics: Allure of Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald; Beyond the 4Cs Colour; Fluoroscence in Diamonds; History and Value Factors of Pearls; Spotlight on Synthetics; Diamonds – Are They Forever?
GIA will feature rare gem replicas during the event, giving visitors a unique opportunity to see
other stunning pieces of historic and gemmological significance side-by-side.
“Bahrain has traditionally been a major jewellery manufacturing centre attracting consumers within the country as well as from neighbouring countries,” said Nirupa Bhatt, Managing Director of GIA India and Middle East. “GIA will be sharing interesting information about gemstones at Jewellery Arabia to help buyers make a confident gem purchase.”
GIA organises Trade Education Seminars (TES) on a variety of topics to inform and educate the trade on current and relevant topics related to the gem and jewellery industry. It also conducts training programmes for retail sales associates for various retail jewellery outlets on a complimentary basis to support the institute’s mission.
GIA offers courses in major trade centres throughout the Gulf. With courses offered in Dubai, GIA also conducts regular classes across Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and many other key locations in the region. The institute’s courses focus on diamonds, coloured stones, pearls, jewellery and design.
