Autumn 2018
Two rare pieces of real estate in London, offering sweeping views of the city’s most famous landmarks and exceptional interiors, are being offered to discerning investors
Some exclusive penthouses in two landmark developments in London are being offered by the market- leading residential developer Barratt London for investors in the Gulf.
The penthouses, in Barratt London’s flagship development Landmark Place and Blackfriars Circus, are designed by renowned interior specialists.
Landmark Place has recently unveiled a brand new exemplar penthouse show apartment, designed by Goddard Littlefair.
Located on the north bank of the River Thames, Landmark Place offers a rare proposition as one of the last residential developments to be built along this section of the river.
Extraordinary panoramic views up and down the Thames are enhanced by the scheme’s exceptional architecture, with a façade that consists of over 80 per cent glass – maximising the internal space while simultaneously contributing a striking exterior to London’s riverscape.
Offering 2,305 sq ft of lateral living, this penthouse features a wraparound terrace that allows for an uninterrupted vista across London, with direct views of Tower Bridge, City Hall, HMS Belfast and The Shard. All penthouses within the Landmark Place collection are finished with the finest materials and fittings, from the Italian marble island worktop and Gaggenau appliances in the kitchen, through to the freestanding bath and individually designed, marble-topped vanity bench in the master bathroom.
The fusion of traditional and modern interior design for this new penthouse, curated by award-winning industry experts, Goddard Littlefair, was inspired by the sunset over The Thames, culminating in a colour palette that expertly combines cool blues and warmer tones.
Bespoke furniture and accessories nod to the distinctive architectural landmarks along the River Thames. The mirror-cladded column is inspired by the reflective façade of the nearby Northern & Shell building, whilst the woven outdoor furniture from Kettal and Minotti makes reference to the geometry of Tower Bridge.
Jo Littlefair, Director and Co-founder, Goddard Littlefair, comments: “We were delighted to work with the Barratt London team to deliver our shared vision for the Landmark Place penthouse, adding a layer of opulence to what is already an outstanding scheme.
“Our styling and dressing of the penthouse embodies the ambition of the developer for this world-class Thames-side development, in a part of London currently undergoing widespread and exciting regeneration. We sought to bring the interiors to life with decadent touchpoints throughout, which are complemented by the wonderful wraparound terrace with sweeping views of London’s most famous landmarks.”
Residents will also benefit from access to Landmark Place’s world-class hotel-style amenities including a 24-hour concierge, business suite, residents’ lounge and TV room, a 20m swimming pool, sauna, steam room, gymnasium and treatment room.
Pam Reardon, Sales Director, Barratt East London, comments: “The penthouse at Landmark Place is the jewel in the crown at this riverside development. Goddard Littlefair has done an excellent job of bringing this penthouse to life, implementing a design that is befitting of the development’s location and buyer.
“Overlooking Tower Bridge, on the Northbank of The Thames, it is a rare piece of real estate in London that has already proven popular with City-based buyers and beyond. With the penthouses now ready to move into, we expect to see continued interest from buyers searching for a home at one of London’s most premier addresses.”
Prices for the Landmark Place Penthouse Collection start from £5,740,000 ($7,486,682). Two and three-bedroom apartments within the scheme are also available and start from £1,566,000.
BLACKFRIARS CIRCUS
Meanwhile, Barratt London’s Blackfriars Circus development has already become a local landmark, thanks to its innovative design and distinctive brick tower.
Prominently situated on the south west corner of St George’s Circus, where six roads converge, linking them to Westminster, Blackfriars and Waterloo bridges, this mixed-use development of 336 apartments offers flexible workspaces for up to 24 small businesses, two new public spaces, and units for shops, cafes and restaurants.
Just one penthouse apartment remains in Conquest Tower at Blackfriars Circus, including a show apartment designed and dressed by Blocc Interiors.
Rick Jones, director, Blocc Interiors, comments: “When you enter the apartment, your eyes instantly lock on the views ahead. The floor to ceiling windows beautifully frame the world outside, which the interior design needed to enhance – not compete with. We did this by incorporating tactile fabrics and wallcoverings and using a palate of brushed gold, bronze, dark and natural woods.
“Not wanting to obstruct the view, we used bespoke furniture made at a reduced height, but these do not detract from the opulence and comfort.
“The space is naturally zoned, a dividing door that slides into the wall allows for open plan living if required or, when closed, provides intimate space. The large kitchen, with an island and breakfast bar, has space for eight to dine comfortably around a formal dining table. Adjacent, is an inviting living room and media space. Both spaces open into a winter garden spanning the length of both rooms. This versatile indoor/outdoor space is dressed as extra entertaining space.
“Both bedrooms are en suite, with the master bedroom en suite including a large bath as well as a shower and dressing room.”
Comfort cooling is present within the living rooms and master bedrooms, while underfloor heating is installed throughout. Full-height windows bring in ample natural sunlight, and kitchens have fully-integrated modern appliances. All homes come with a winter garden, balcony or terrace.
On track for completion in summer 2018, the project designed by award-winning practice Maccreanor Lavington comprises five distinct buildings which vary in height from five to 27-storeys, set amongst two new landscaped public open spaces that will create new pedestrian routes through to Library Street, opening up the site for the first time in generations.
Richard Lavington of MaccreanorLavington comments: “The Circus was a spectacle of delights when it was first erected, and when designing Blackfriars Circus we wanted to create a scheme that was sympathetic to its original design. The facades to St. Georges Circus reflected a formal readying of the neighbouring Clarence Centre, particularly the curved face towards the circus and its Georgian architecture with the strong banding and framed windows.
“The utilitarian design that runs through the scheme is tenure blind, it unifies the development with its surroundings.
“An integral part of the development was to create a public square where the community could congregate, but we didn’t want this to interrupt the streetscape, so we put this at the heart of the scheme.”
Over 50 different types of brick in 11 colours were used to create a streetscape that reflects the historical context of the site, giving each building a distinct character while ensuring they mature gracefully, becoming richer and looking even better over time.
Each apartment has a balcony, terrace or winter garden, and all residents have access to a roof-top garden with outstanding views across London. Underground parking is available at an additional cost and there are 700 cycle spaces.
Pam Reardon, sales director, Barratt London, comments: “Blackfriars Circus is a wonderful example of how an inspired design, which uses traditional materials in a new way, opens up previously inaccessible space and delivers new commercial premises, contributing to an exciting new streetscape and helping to reinvigorate a community.”
Thanks to a multi-million-pound regeneration project, the area, once home to the renowned Royal Circus, is being transformed into a tree-lined boulevard with an abundance of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.
Blackfriars Circus is exceptionally well-connected for public transport with four stations within walking distance – Southwark (seven minutes), Waterloo (10 minutes), Elephant & Castle (10 minutes) and Blackfriars (15 minutes). Residents will also have convenient access to London’s new cycle superhighway, ensuring safer travel for cyclists around London.
Two and three-bedroom apartments at Blackfriars Circus start from £1,450,000.
