Italy’s luxury sports car manufacturer Lamborghini delivered a record 2,530 cars to customers in 2014 achieving a new milestone in its 51-year history.
‘‘In 2014, Lamborghini delivered a very satisfying performance, confirming again the strength of our brand, product and commercial strategy,’’ said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
With 130 dealers serving 48 countries, in 2014 worldwide deliveries to customers increased from 2,121 to 2,530 cars, representing a sales growth of 19 per cent compared to the previous year.
‘‘We increased sales in all our major regions,’’ continued Winkelmann. ‘‘Our biggest markets are the US and Greater China, followed by the Middle East, UK, Japan and Germany which each registered significant growth in 2014.’’
Lamborghini’s sales were well-balanced among the three regions - EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), America and Asia Pacific - which accounted for approximately one third of global sales each.
As many as 1,128 of the 12-cylinder Aventador LP 700-4 in both Coupé and Roadster versions were delivered to customers in 2014, an increase of 13 per cent of the 1,001 delivered in 2013, beating all previous records of V12 sales in Lamborghini’s history.
The 10-cylinder Huracán LP 610-4 super sports car, which had its world debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, has been extremely successful with more than 3,300 cars orders until the end of the 2014, and 1,137 delivered to customers.
Also the last 265 cars of the Lamborghini Gallardo - which with a total of 14,022 cars is by far the most-built Lamborghini ever - was delivered to customers.
Founded in 1963, Lamborghini is headquartered in Sant’Agata Bolognese in north-east Italy.
The Huracán LP 610-4 is the successor to the Gallardo and, with its innovative technology and exceptional performance, is said to redefine the driving experience of luxury super sports cars.
The Coupé and Roadster versions of the Aventador LP 700-4, says Lamborghini, are “the new benchmark in the world of luxury super sports cars with their V12 engine”.
With 130 dealerships throughout the world, Lamborghini, in just over half a century, has created a continuous series of dream cars including the 350 GT, Miura, Espada, Countach, Diablo, Murciélago, and limited series such as Reventón, Sesto Elemento and Aventador J.
The Egoista and the Veneno, in the Coupé and Roadster versions, were launched to celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary year in 2013.
