Audemars Piguet, a leading fine watchmaking manufacturer, has launched its brand new collection ‘CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet’ in Dubai shortly after presenting it to the world at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in Geneva.
Together with partners Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, the Swiss haute horlogerie manufacture revealed the timepieces to a group of collectors during an exclusive event last week.
“We are proud to share our passion for watchmaking with the launch of CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet. The collection is a true representation of what we continuously strive to achieve and represents our spirit of independence, our heritage and above all our artistry and savoir-faire in the realm of horology and design,” said Nicolas Garzouzi, Audemars Piguet Chief Executive Officer Middle East.
CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet writes a new page in the manufacture’s history and stands for its genetic code: C for Challenge, O for Own, D for Dare and E for Evolve. At one minute before midnight, CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet is ahead of the game. Endowed with an AP twist, this contemporary evolution of the classic round watch carries on the manufacture’s long history of unconventional form and design, a statement said.
For the first time, Audemars Piguet presents a collection consciously designed for both men and women, with an arched ergonomic case suitable for all wrist sizes despite its 41mm diameter. Composed of 13 references, including 5 complications and 3 brand new calibres all launched in one go, CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet represents one of the most important and comprehensive launches by Audemars Piguet.
The collection features a large choice of 6 in-house calibres of the latest generation, including a self-winding watch with date indication, a self-winding chronograph, a self-winding flying tourbillon, a perpetual calendar, a tourbillon openworked and a minute repeater supersonnerie. These movements are decorated to the slightest details with a wide array of finishing techniques, including “traits tirés,” “Côtes de Genève,” circular graining, circular satin, and diamond-polished angles.
The collection’s highly recognisable case presents an octagonal middlecase embedded within a round caseback and bezel. Only welded to the extra-thin bezel, the openworked lugs add a degree of complexity. Satin-brushed, chamfered and polished, the bezel, lugs and case present refined finishing techniques usually found on calibres.
Speaking of the new collection, Audemars Piguet Chief Executive Officer François-Henry Bennahmias says: “CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet is about human challenges. It tells the passionate stories of the dedicated watchmakers who dared to follow their convictions, joined forces and persevered, always pushing their own limits.”
