Spring/Summer 2019
Gulfstream brought to the show its super-midsize G280; the high-performing G550; the all-new, award-winning G500 and G600; and the flagship Gulfstream G650ER for customer viewing.
“Customers in Europe have long recognised Gulfstream as the leader in providing high-performing, technologically advanced aircraft with an exquisite passenger environment,” said Mark Burns, President, Gulfstream. “Backed by our growing customer support network, Gulfstream operators in Europe are assured of the comprehensive, world-renowned Gulfstream experience. Europe continues to be a strong market for Gulfstream.”
The newest aircraft in Gulfstream’s fleet, the clean-sheet G500 and G600, are equipped with the award-winning Symmetry Flight Deck, the most technologically advanced flight deck in business aviation. The G600 is capable of flying 6,500 nautical miles/12,038 km at Mach 0.85 and can connect Geneva to Hong Kong at Mach 0.90. The G500 is able to fly 5,200 nm/9,630 km at Mach 0.85. The aircraft is also capable of connecting Geneva to Chicago (US) and did so in 8 hours and 1 minute, setting a city-pair record.
Gulfstream’s exhibit at EBACE also included the G500 and G600 Symmetry Flight Deck experience, where guests could conduct a pilot-led simulated flight using the active control sidesticks and extensive touchscreen technology.
Gulfstream’s flagship, the ultralong-range G650ER, has a range of 7,500 nm/13,890 km at Mach 0.85 and can connect Geneva to Singapore at Mach 0.90 and Geneva to Santiago (Chile) at Mach 0.87. The aircraft recently set a record for the farthest, fastest, non-stop business jet flight in history, connecting Singapore to Tucson, Arizona – a distance of 8,379 nm/15,518 km, in 15 hours and 23 minutes. To date, the G650 family has earned 90 city-pair records.
The iconic G550 has a maximum range of 6,750 nm/12,501 km and can link Geneva to Tokyo at Mach 0.85. The aircraft remains a popular choice for both commercial and special mission applications.
The high-performing Gulfstream G550 recently established a new city-pair speed record, connecting Shanghai (China) with Seattle (US) in 10 hours and 29 minutes, bringing the number of records the jet has earned to 55.
“Our customers can depend on the G550’s performance and reliability,” said Burns. “The G550 never fails to impress as it continues to break records and uphold its lasting reputation, demonstrating why the G550 is a consistent choice for business aviation and special missions operations.”
Gulfstream recently set another city-pair speed record on sustainable alternative jet fuel. The record, achieved by the Gulfstream G550, connected Charleston, South Carolina (US), with Farnborough, England, a distance of 3,591 nautical miles/6,651 km, at an average speed of Mach 0.85 in 7 hours and 13 minutes.
The city-pair record, along with a G550 demonstration flight on SAJF to Geneva for the EBACE, is part of a second industry event designed to promote the development and adoption of SAJF.
“Our record-breaking flight on the G550 is another example of our aircraft’s continued high performance with SAJF,” said Burns. “As an industry, we must continue to promote SAJF and its benefits and collaborate to find a solution for the infrastructure and economic challenges that impede widespread use of the fuel around the world.”
