Tourists visiting Wangfujing shopping centre in Beijing will now find a new attraction in the form of a giant clock tower at the famous shopping destination in the Chinese capital.
The giant clock, made by Omega, is located on the famed Wangfujing Street, and the clock’s bell can heard in every corner of the “Golden Street”.
The clock is 7.9 m in diameter and has a three-m-long minute hand and a 2.15-m hour hand. It has four dials and each side of the clock weighs more than four tonnes.
It can be seen clearly from 100 m away.
The clock has adopted the style of the famed Omega Constellation watch with its iconic claws on a golden bezel.
Omega also has a boutique at the store, which carries a selection of Omega products, including the four watch families: Constellation, Seamaster, De Ville, and Speedmaster, as well as fine jewellery and fine leather collections.
While the new clock tower may never rival London’s famous Big Ben as a major tourist attraction, as Asia's current largest Omega clock, it is said to have generated enormous interest since its unveiling last month.
