Two Swiss sports stars are now flying the flag for Carl F Bucherer as the manufacture’s brand ambassadors.
The new ‘Friends of the Brand’ include sprinter Mujinga Kambundji, billed as the fastest woman in Switzerland, and ski racer and Olympic champion Sandro Viletta.
As a schoolgirl, Kambunji’s exceptional speed attracted attention and she left the rest of the field far behind early on when she competed in the Swiss Athletic Sprint. Since then, her enthusiasm for the sprint disciplines remains unbroken. By 22, she had already won the Swiss championships nine times: four times over 200 m and five times over the 100 m sprint.
She was also successful at the European Championships held in Zurich in 2014, coming fourth in the 100 m sprint and fifth over 200 m.
Kambundji holds the Swiss records over 60 m, 100 m and 200 m and recently set new Swiss records in the 60 m semi-final and final at the 2015 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Prague, coming fifth overall.
Kambundji is bursting with ambition and drive. Alongside her training commitments, she is also taking a degree course in business. She finds the ideal counterbalance on her travels and at home.
The cheerful and lively athlete from Berne draws the strength and motivation she needs to forge her own path from her family, friends and fans, says Carl F Bucherer adding that the charming runner with Congolese roots is well-loved for her “cosmopolitan outlook and love of her home country”.
There is no doubt that the fastest woman in Switzerland is exceptionally gifted with a one-of-a-kind charisma, says the Swiss manufacture. As a confident young woman, Kambundji expresses the motivation that drives her on with timepieces by Carl F Bucherer: success through ambition and brilliance, it adds.
WILL TO WIN
Meanwhile, Viletta, an Olympic champion in the super combined discipline, is said to unite athletic vigour with a focused will to win.
He is a member of the Swiss national team and specialises in Super G and downhill.
Viletta grew up in La Punt in the Engadine region and developed a fascination for the world of skiing at an early age.
He laid the foundations for his success early on by competing at Junior level. In 2004, he won the Swiss Junior Championship in giant slalom, an achievement that paved his way to joining the sporting elite.
Top ten rankings in the FIS Skiing World Cup, several Swiss championship titles - one sporting highlight followed the next. With his aspiration to give the maximum at all times and his willingness to always put in a top performance, Viletta won the World Cup held in Beaver Creek in 2011.
The ambitious Swiss athlete celebrated his biggest success to date at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, where he won gold in the super combination.
Professionally, Viletta is drawn to the international racing pistes and the winner's rostrum; privately, he finds the necessary counterbalance in nature.
In his free time, he loves to soak up the peace and beauty of the Swiss landscape.
Besides being at the top of high-performance sport, he has also obtained a diploma in business.
Describing Viletta as a precision machine, Carl F Bucherer says Viletta is an undisputed talent who shows his special aptitude with the manufacture’s timepieces, “transforming endurance and skill into success at exactly the right moment”.
