Visitors to this year’s Omega Dubai Desert Classic will be treated to an all-new event offer with a selection of activities and family entertainment, in addition to first-class food and beverage, making up the newly named Tournament Town at Emirates GC from January 23-26.
With just a few weeks left until the event, now is the time to secure a place at one of Dubai’s premier sporting events, where spectators will be able to mix the thrills and spills of tournament play with a selection of entertaining activities organised by tournament partners and supporters, said a statement.
Central to this will be a selection of food and beverage options on offer from JA Resorts & Hotels’ industry-leading culinary experts, including two bespoke food units. Motorino, an iconic urban venue renowned for offering the best pizza in New York, will bring its top-quality chefs to Tournament Town in 2020, while those with a sweet tooth will be able to satisfy their craving with a visit to Gelato.
Spectators will be able to watch all the on-course action unfold from the comfort of Tournament Town on a jumbo screen that will broadcast all four-days of the tournament live. As well as enjoying all the live action, spectators will also have the chance to enjoy a selection of cold refreshments at the Live Victoriously bar, while getting up close and watching some of the world’s finest golfers warm up on the practice range prior to their rounds.
In addition to the delicious food, there will be an array of activities for families and friends of all ages to enjoy. Not only will there be the JA Resorts & Hotels Three-Minature Hole Challenge, but spectators can also try their hand at the Bungee Run, or even challenge each other to a remote-controlled boat race. Parents can relax and watch some of the world’s best golfers while their children have fun at Tournament Town’s Kids Clubhouse, including a bouncy castle, Tri Sports arena, PlayStation booths and face painting challenges.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a slice of Dubai culture with camel rides available across all four-days, while World Art Dubai will be setting up a gallery of local artwork, in which the curators will be live painting on the walls, inviting visitors to join-in. This will also allow spectators the chance to leave their mark on its unique Art Attack Wall, offering a blank canvas for visitors to unleash their creative flair. Dubai-based artist Idriss B will also be bringing his legendary polygonal animal sculptures to the Majlis Course, at Emirates Golf Club. So, make sure to keep an eye out for those too.
As the world’s finest golfers battle it out on course, spectators can hone their own skills in Tournament Town with numerous golf challenges available. Central to this will be the Peter Cowen Academy, which will focus on teaching the movement patterns required to improve at golf through a selection of different circuit exercises, as well as working on other key aspects such as club grip and posture. Peter Cowen has previously taught the likes of previous Omega Dubai Desert Classic champions and past Major Champions.
Following some expert coaching, fans can then take their game to the Titleist Vokey Chipping Challenge to take part in a chipping area, that will allow them to both work on their technique and take part in fun challenges with family and friends.
“We are delighted with the food and entertainment set up we have to offer all our guests during this year’s Omega Dubai Desert Classic,” said Simon Corkill, executive tournament director. “With some of the game’s greatest players set to attend this year’s tournament, spectators will be able to sample the best of both worlds – watching first class golf while also enjoying the numerous activities on offer in Tournament Town. Whether you are an avid golfer or attending the tournament for the first time, we are confident we will keep you entertained throughout your visit.”
Building on its unique event offer, Omega Dubai Desert Classic tournament partner Byrne Equipment Rental, one of the largest plants and equipment rental companies in the Middle East, will be providing convenient charging stations around the course for fans and their equipment. Expo 2020, set to open in October, will also have a pop-up pavilion to give spectators a flavour of the exciting things ahead when it opens later in the year.
For all of those who need their retail therapy fix, rest assured Peter Millar the ‘official apparel partner’ of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic will be stocked in the merchandise tent. Known for its innovative performance fabrics and smart style, spectators can make sure they dress like a pro for their next round.
CNN’s News Stand will be a standout feature in Tournament Town, as will Dubai Duty Free’s Top serve activation and The National’s ball pool challenge. In addition, Dubai Golf will provide all the information spectators need to know about playing golf in the city.
Mediclinic will also have a presence in Tournament Town, providing expert medical care alongside free health checks to those in attendance.
