Winter 2020
Jacob & Co has launched a new timepiece that immortalises the allure of black gold and the oil industry; a tribute to oil industry professionals across the world.
For the first time in watchmaking, and after more than a year in development, Jacob & Co has incorporated two working derricks, an “oil” reservoir and a system of pipes into a timepiece, powered by a manual-wind double-axis tourbillon at its heart.
The tourbillon cage Oil Pump makes a full revolution on its first axis in 60 seconds and on its second axis in 2.5 minutes. The rose gold Oil Pump automaton is on demand, activated by a pusher at 2 o’clock.
All of this comes in a 47mm 18K rose gold and sapphire crystal case, with a solid 18K rose gold case back. Keeping the design clean, there is no setting crown, instead the winding and time setting is done using two bows built into the case back.
Everything is on display in the Oil Pump, thanks to the unique domed sapphire with a double anti-reflective treatment.
Founded by Jacob Arabo in 1986, Jacob & Co creates revolutionary timepieces and exquisite jewellery that have captivated celebrities and notables from the watchmaking world and dazzled on fashion’s red carpets and cover shoots. With a unique talent for creating designs that are as innovative as they are spectacular, the company has grown into one of the most recognised luxury brands in timepieces and jewellery.
At the heart of the company is the passion, drive and creative force of Arabo. With a respect for traditional craftsmanship and artistry and an ability to envision and realise exquisite jewellery and unique timepieces, he makes the truly extraordinary a reality through the alchemy of edge and elegance, says the company.
