Christie’s has announced that it has decided to reschedule the Christie’s Important Watches auction, due to be held in Dubai on April 11 to October.
In a statement, Christie's said it has been monitoring the coronavirus outbreak situation globally to assess the potential impact to its clients, employees and to the business.
The rescheduled auction will coincide with Christie’s annual Middle Eastern modern and contemporary art auction and provide the best sale environment, it said.
In addition, its curated exhibition 'Head to Head: A dialogue between Marwan and Baselitz', due to be held in April, has also been re-scheduled to November, Christie’s said.
"Regionally, we will continue to serve our clients in the Middle East via our fully operational office in Dubai. Furthermore, we are showcasing Middle Eastern Art highlights as well as a fine selection of watches in our renovated exhibition space at DIFC," it said.
"As a business we remain well-positioned, underpinned by the fact that our bespoke digital marketing and direct, personal client engagement continues to ensure that art consigned for sale is successfully publicized and connected to potential buyers. We have longstanding experience of working with global collectors and advisors to ensure that works of art can be successfully presented in a bespoke way," it added.
