Spring 2015
Dr Johannes Bussmann has taken over as Chairman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Technik.
He replaced August Wilhelm Henningsen, 64, who retired after 14 years at the helm of the company.
“Henningsen led Lufthansa Technik to the top of the international maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) industry,” says Carsten Spohr, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Lufthansa Technik and CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa. “I would like to thank him very much indeed for this outstanding achievement. His work will be continued by Dr Bussmann, an experienced, successful Lufthansa Technik manager.”
Bussmann, 46, who holds a doctorate in aerospace engineering, has been a member of the Executive Board since September 2012 with responsibility for Human Resources, Engine and VIP Services.
He began his career at Lufthansa Technik in 1999 in Product Management and Development. Before being appointed to the Executive Board, he was Senior Vice President Component Services, and most recently, Senior Vice President Engine Services.
As part of the changed allocation of board responsibilities, Bussmann will also take charge of the Original Equipment Innovation division as well as Strategy, Marketing and Sales.
