A very special FP Journe watch raised close to three-quarters of a million dollars at a charity gala for Action Innocence in Geneva, Switzerland.
The FP Journe Tourbillon Souverain raised as much as CHF650,000 ($709,572) at the May 12 gala for the foundation, which was also celebrating its 15th anniversary.
The auction was very lively: under the gavel of seasoned collector, auctioneer, and watch expert Aurel Bacs, American businessman Robert Manoukian and Lebanese jeweller Claude Sfeir bid against each other up to CHF350,000.
Sfeir won the battle and in a burst of generosity, Manoukian added another CHF300,000 to the adjudicated price at the profit of the foundation.
Meanwhile another watch form the independent watchmaker – the élégante in titanium and rubber - also sold for a record CHF55,000 ($60,040).
These two watches were specially made featuring the colours of the non-profit organisation, which is dedicated to preserving the integrity and dignity of children on the internet.
