Shangri-La is to mark its debut in the Mauritius this November with a very special package for couples that will include helicopter rides, sunset cruises, and private dining under the stars.
The ‘Open for Imagination’ five-night package at the Shangri-La Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, which can be further personalised, is for two people and includes:
• Five-nights in one of the resort’s six 126-sq-m deluxe suites, each of which offers a separate lounge area, a private dining room, two secluded terraces, complimentary bar and champagne on arrival.
• Roundtrip airport transfers and island tour by helicopter, along with exclusive use of the resort’s Yu airport lounge for fast-track immigration and personalised service.
• Daily Dom Pérignon champagne breakfast in the suite.
• A “Dine by Design” dinner under the stars on Ilot Mangénie with a private Sega dance performance; an entire area of the private island will be exclusively reserved for the couple’s use.
• Daily in-suite couple’s CHI, The Spa experience featuring treatments based on holistic and Ayurvedic traditions.
• Private romantic sunset cruise on a luxury yacht.
The package is priced from €11,000 ($12,150) nett with add-on bespoke experiences curated by a Shangri-La Specialist costing more.
Shangri-La took over the country’s legendary Le Touessrok Resort & Spa earlier this year and is currently completing a six-month renovation, ahead of the resort’s relaunch on November 1.
Ahead of the launch, pop-up events will be held in London, Paris and Dubai in late September and early October to showcase the resort’s experiential offerings and provide a taste of paradise with Mauritian musicians, artists and flavours flown in for the occasion.
Located on the east coast of Mauritius in the Trou d’Eau Douce Bay, the 200-room Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort offers Indian Ocean views from all rooms, suites and villas, and talcum-white sand beaches. It also offers a private island - Ilot Mangénie - reserved exclusively for guests that features 3.5 km of pristine beach, a stylish beach club and on-island butlers.
“Our vision is to create a private hideaway that can be our guests’ own personal paradise,” says Gabriele Lombardo, General Manager of Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa. “In an always-on world, our senses are constantly barraged. We want to give guests space for imagination and serendipitous discovery.”
As part of the major renovation, the resort’s tropical bohemian chic has been revitalised and enhanced by vibrant contemporary styling referencing Mauritius’s diverse cultures and dramatic landscape of volcanic mountains, lush rainforests and blue lagoons, as well as Shangri-La’s Asian sophistication and heritage.
The use of organic and natural materials and touches of European glamour enrich the intimate ambiance of the resort, which has the feel of a Mediterranean-style village.
Five new dining and bar concepts – such as Republik Beach Club & Grill, which features Mediterranean cuisine and barbecue specialties and a lively bohemian beach lounge, and Sega, a rum and Tiki bar where exciting local talents play reggae, seggae, jazz and the blues – burnish favourites such as Safran, the resort’s acclaimed Indian restaurant.
In addition to its two pools and extensive aquatic and land-based activities, there is the T-Club for children aged between 4 and 11 and an Active T-Club for those 12 to 17 years old. Guests also have access to the 18-hole, par 72 championship golf course designed by Bernhard Langer that is located a few minutes away by boat on Ile aux Cerfs.
Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently owns and/or manages 92 hotels under the Shangri-La brand with an inventory of over 38,000 rooms.
The group has a substantial development pipeline with upcoming projects in mainland China, Cambodia, India, Myanmar, Philippines, Qatar and Sri Lanka.
