Leading submersible manufacturer U-Boat Worx will next month launch the latest edition of a sleek private submarine which allows users to explore the seas at depths of up to nearly a thousand feet.
The Super Yacht Sub 3, an expensive toy whose price starts at €1.5 million ($1.69 million), is targeted at superyacht owners and will make its global debut at the 2015 edition of the Monaco Yacht Show which will be held from September 23 to 26 at Port Hercules in Monaco.
The Super Yacht Sub is a luxury private submersible that accommodates up to three people and has been “purposely designed for superyachts”.
U-Boat Worx Founder and Chairman Bert Houtman comments: “The Super Yacht Sub 3 is the new standard in the superyacht industry. Its compact size and relatively low weight redefine the way shipyards, naval architects and owners have looked upon submersibles. The Super Yacht Sub 3 is an exhilarating submersible in all aspects - from her unobstructed underwater viewing characteristics to the many safety features and performance capabilities.”
The first series of the Super Yacht Sub 3 is in production at U-Boat Worx’s manufacturing facility in the Netherlands.
The Super Yacht Sub 3 can be delivered with depth ratings of 100, 200 or 300 m, while its innovative Lithium-ion battery system allows the submarine to run for up to eight hours on a single charge.
With a powerful air-conditioning system, Bluetooth stereo and luxury leather seating, the private submersible has been fitted “with every conceivable comfort”.
The price for the 100-m version - which is more than enough to conquer the shallow waters of the Gulf - is €1.5 million, but be prepared to dig deeper into your pockets if you fancy exploring waters elsewhere in the world, and at depths of up to 300 m (984 ft).
