Boutique Italian shipyard Tankoa is all set to show off its newest superyacht at the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show later this month.
Called Suerte, the 69.30-m superyacht hit the waters in June and was recently seeing sailing in Portofino Bay ahead of the show.
The yacht was built for a very loyal client of Yacht-Ology, Tankoa’s global sales and marketing agent.
The 69.30 m yacht - billed as project S693 by the Genoa-based yard - was built on schedule, despite several upgrades decided by the client in conjunction with the shipyard, according to Michel Karsenti, the owner of Yacht-Ology.
As soon as Suerte hit the water in June, she showed a perfect balance with zero-degree lateral inclination and a draft only 1 cm off calculation, the yard says.
From July until the late August, Suerte underwent sea trials, technical tests, stability tests, and Class endurance runs ahead of its final delivery, before sailing to the Cote d’Azur following the installation the owner’s supplies and toys.
The yacht’s warm minimalist interiors and final touch-ups were done by Margherita Casprini Francesco Paszkowski’s design studio.
“We were really thrilled with the results right off the first sea trials,” comments Karsenti. “According to the contractual specification, the top speed was to be 16.5 knots at half load. Like any other builder, our performances are to be obtained by calm sea with 5 knots wind. A first sea trial always require a lot of organisation and it happened that on the programmed date, we had a solid 2 to 2.5-m swell with winds blowing from 18 up to 35 knots in gusts but we still decided to go. The 7 to 8-hour sea trial was just terrific! We reached a top speed in excess of 18 knots with a load close to 70 per cent.
He continues: “We will have the 5,500 nm contractual range at 14 knots, which will make a difference when sailing across the Atlantic. Vibrations are inexistent and sound level is already in line with our specs without loose furniture nor decoration having been installed. The project simply exceeded all our wildest expectations and a happy owner will be our best reward!
“I am very proud of Yacht-Ology’s association with Tankoa as this shipyard has a winning technical team and I admire the rigour, professionalism and expertise of the management team including Euro Contenti, Edoardo Ratto, Renzo Chelazzi and Andrea Parodi.
“I remain deeply impressed with the work of naval architect Professor Ruggiero, whose experience is second to none and by the commitment of Albert McIlroy, the owner’s surveyor, to build the best boat.”
This month, Tankoa Yachts will see the deck and superstructure of the first 50-m yacht enter the shed under code name S501. Outfitting work will immediately start after engines and main technical equipment have been installed on-board while work on S701, a sister ship to Suerte, will resume at the same time.
TWO NEW MODELS
During the Monaco Yacht Show as well as the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, in Florida, US, Tankoa and Yacht-Ology will introduce two new 53-meter concepts codenamed S531 and
S532 and boasting exceptional by Francesco Paszkowski.
The S531 will have an asymmetrical main deck design while the S532 will boast a wide-body main deck with three suites. With GRTs of 740 and 800 respectively, both yachts will offer the amenities found on much larger yachts.
The Monaco Yacht Show will be held at Port Hercules from September 23 to 26.
