A spectacular private collection of the ever-popular jewels by Royal jewellers Hemmerle are to come to auction this summer. The collection will be one of the highlights of Dreweatts Fine Jewellery, Silver, Watches and Objects of Vertu sale on July 7, 2021.
An established goldsmiths’ company, originally specialising in medals and orders, Hemmerle’s clients include royalty and celebrity around the world, and previously even the Vatican.
Innovation and quality are attributes to their collections, by using unusual metals and rare stones to great effect. This breaking of boundaries means that they are constantly developing creative jewels that capture the essence of the moment while remaining contemporary, despite passing influences of the time, said a statement.
Their jewellery has become even more popular recently, by the combining of magnificent gemstones with various other uncommon materials such as brass, steel, copper and wood. Their experimental techniques are also desirable, in particular the investigational use of oxidation and contemporary, non-traditional finishes, that are contrasted with traditional techniques and craftsmanship. The resulting jewellery collections span truly unique pieces and it is this that makes Hemmerle jewellery so current and so sought-after.
Among the pieces on offer is a pair of grey moonstone and agate earrings, estimated to fetch £1,500. A chic pair of diamond and grey moonstone cluster ear studs carry an estimate of £2,000-£3,000 and a moonstone band ring estimated to fetch £1,500-£2000.
An unusual green tourmaline-set watch is estimated to fetch £1,500-£2,000 and a pair of colour-change agate ear clips have an estimate of £8,000-£12,000. An 18-carat gold and oxidised iron green tourmaline ring has an estimate of £2000-£3000 and a striking sapphire ring is estimated at £7,000-£10,000.
The sale offers the opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind jewels that are brilliantly contemporary, beautiful in quality and stunning in design, said the statement.
