Omega says it has taken 200-plus-year-old art of the tourbillon to the 21st century with a new Central Tourbillon wristwatch that features a Co-Axial calibre and a brilliant design highlighted with baguette diamonds of the finest quality.
The intriguing dial of the De Ville Central Tourbillon adds a modern twist to the beauty of the tourbillon, which is visible through the sapphire glass with an anti-reflective treatment on both sides.
The titanium tourbillon cage, showcased in the centre of the watch, makes one revolution every minute. The 18-carat red gold alpha-shaped seconds hand is set in the tourbillon cage while the 18-carat red gold “flying” alpha-shaped hour and minute hands are etched onto the sapphire crystal. Faceted 18-carat red gold indexes are applied at 12, 3 and 6 o’clock.
The De Ville Central Tourbillon’s bridges and plates are finished in a striking chocolate brown colour, something that is achieved using a treatment of PVD – physical vapour deposition. Sun brushing the metal creates additional texture and adds depth to the bridges. There is a 950 platinum oscillating weight and the bridges are polished by hand. The movement is housed in a 38.7 mm 18K red gold case with matching red gold hands, screws and wheels.
One of the timepiece’s most brilliant design elements is its bezel, which is adorned with 24 baguette diamonds cut into trapezoidal forms.
At its heart is the Co-Axial calibre 2635, a self-winding movement with a 45-hour power reserve. A free-sprung balance also allows for more precise adjustments of the watch, which has been officially certified as a chronometer by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC).
Like all Central Tourbillon models, the classic De Ville Co-Axial case guarantees water resistance up to 30 m and it is offered with a three-year warranty.
The watch comes in its own presentation box in the form of a leather watch winder.
This De Ville Central Tourbillon will be produced in an edition limited to eight pieces with the limited edition number engraved on the side of the casebody. Distinguishing each individual piece are the watchmaker’s initials engraved on the back of the tourbillon’s main plate.
The stunning wristwatch is presented on a luxurious brown leather strap with a polished foldover clasp.
