Christie’s Watches has announced an exclusive exhibition of extremely rare and one of a kind Patek Philippe timepieces from The OAK Collection, to take place at Christie’s Dubai, DIFC during Dubai Watch Week organised under the patronage of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons.
A selection of 150 plus pieces from a collection of more than 600 timepieces in The OAK Collection (One-of-a-Kind) will be exhibited from 17 – 20 November at Christie’s.
Open to the public, as well as to guests and visitors attending Dubai Watch Week, this represents one of the most notable collections of timepieces of our age known to exist in private hands today and has only been viewed once previously in London in May 2022.
The OAK Collection Exhibition being held at Christie’s Dubai will comprise solely of Patek Philippe timepieces. From the largest holding of Patek Philippe watches outside of the Patek Philippe Museum, owned by Henry Graves Jr., to the Patek Philippe ‘Calatrava’, - the owner holds the world’s largest collection of examples of this model – to ‘The new age of independents & steel sports’, The OAK Collection has been meticulously curated into 11 distinct sections, all equally fascinating and each a testament to an unequalled passion for horology.
The diversity and rarity of The OAK Collection, combined with the immaculate provenance and pristine condition of the pieces makes this collection an homage to Haute Horology’s finest engineering and master craftsmanship, as well as to the exceptional eye of the collector whose vision brought many of these one of a kind pieces to life. Each of the 600 pieces in the overall collection is known for its rarity and exceptional condition whilst it almost exclusively features ‘one-of-a-kind’ watches and pocket watches, all produced either in limited series, as special editions or as a bespoke order. It also includes many pieces worthy of museum status due to their remarkable horological engineering and use of rare materials.
Collected by the owner over nearly four decades, The OAK Collection offers an unrivalled selection of both historical and contemporary timepieces celebrating the greatest names in established and independent Swiss watchmaking – the rarest Patek Philippe and Rolexes, alongside magnificent independents, chronographs, perpetual calendars, world-time watches and rare handicrafts.
Hind Seddiqi, Director General of Dubai Watch Week, comments: "The OAK exhibition exemplifies Mr Getreide’s passion for horology and is a unique and rare experience for our guests at Dubai Watch Week. Under the patronage of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, we are honoured to showcase this collection and are certain that the exhibition in Dubai will be an engaging and pivotal moment for watch enthusiasts, collectors and international guests during the upcoming event."
Remy Julia, Head of Watches Christie’s Middle East, India & Africa, comments: "I have never seen another collection of watches like The OAK Collection during my career. It is an honour for Christie’s Dubai to host The OAK Collection Exhibition for the first time in the Middle East during Dubai Watch Week. It is with sincere thanks to the patronage of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, who launched Dubai Watch Week in 2015, that a selection of this extraordinary private collection of timepieces is coming to Dubai. These rare and truly one of a kind Patek Philippe references and bespoke models represents the vast passion and vision of the owner which will be a highlight of Dubai Watch Week."
